My thoughts exactly [In reply to] Can't Post

Thorin looks real good, I got to hand it to you Avandel.
So far they've sorta screwed up the Elves imo. I hope Thrandy's will be as captivating as Thorin/Bard/Gandalf's.

Good call on the hair beads [In reply to] Can't Post

Quote
As for the hair, from what little we can see of it, the gritty look seems to agree with it quite well. And the braids look perfect - looks like he got some new thingies to go on the ends (leather?). And the beard looks all scruffy and mmmmm.

Last year in the DOS French poster I noticed the thumb ring, which along w. the mantle seemed to be small touches of Thorin "will come into his own" - anyway for me (and RA has such beautiful eyes re the color and depth) I noticed the lovely way the light in his eyes looks - jewel-like. I know that sounds like fan-girling but doing some 'shopping you just end up after a while noticing color a lot more, and the way things are cropped, and textures.

LOL I've always thought the Hobbit movies are a visual feast, and would love to thank PJ & co. for that.

PS., but yes - chocolate cake, indeed. WinkHeartTongue Not even cake, at this point, methinks. More like:

A torte (from Italian torta) is a rich, usually multilayered, cake that is filled with whipped cream, buttercreams, mousses, jams, or fruits.

Yes, I would say so, both the excellent performance by RA as well as the hair. Wink

Amazing picture. And sad too. [In reply to] Can't Post

Thorin is badly hurt in this image. Seems like after-battle, sort of.

yeah, when that happens, i will let go this three-year-accumulated ocean "behind my eyes". It will hurt my heart a lot. Book Thorin was not so powerful a blow as will Movie Thorin be.

Am I the only person that can see an eye in Thorn's forehead? [In reply to] Can't Post

Above is left eyebrow (our right). It looks like a faded image of an eye Crazy

Also the top middle of his forehead looks "cut" like a straight line where the dirt doesn't line up properly?

Could just be me, I don't know.

"Innate strength" [In reply to] Can't Post

PB is spot on. Even when Thorin's not doing an epic battle charge he does sort of radiate inner strength and control.

RA photographs beautifully

Oh, he does. Wink I wish I were half as photogenic as he is.

I was wondering how his poster would turn out too. I expected it to be some shot featuring his growing madness, perhaps with a wild, savage look on his face. I was definitely not prepared for the almost sorrowful-looking one we got.

Quote
Will be interested to see if they do Fili and Kili (about time) and/or more of the dwarves?

Same here. I wish they would, but I don't think that we'll get a poster of any of the other dwarves. This would be the best movie for Fili and Kili to have posters, but I don't think it'll happen. While their characters have been expanded from the book, they still aren't major players in the grand scheme of things; their big moment comes only at the very end (unless, of course, things are changed from the book; Fili could have a defining moment coming up after Lake-town's been torched). Unsure

Thorin's eyes are very reflective of all of his hardships and misfortunes. This picture, though, I would say is the best glimpse we've gotten yet.

*Bows* it WAS a relief of sorts [In reply to] Can't Post

Tho when I clicked the link, I really wasn't thinking much, except something like "oh, no....let's take a look at whatever REHASH they've come up with Frown)

Thranduil is beautiful. He just IS. *Grimly* IMO like RA they would have to WORK at it to mess him up. But as we have seen, it can be done. Still, perhaps the online community ('coz I think that is who these images are directed to, an perhaps not being the final "theater poster versions?") possibly - with all the Legolas fans - cried foul - and maybe someone listened.
Maybe UnsureFrown.

Better, and I love this armor.

Winter King. Not sure they can do better than the PR image that was already put out.HeartHeartHeart LOL the TA threads have this covered but never stop being amazed at the casting perfection in these films.

Yeah... kind of the story of these movies... [In reply to] Can't Post

They are filled with beautiful moments, gorgeous music, outstanding visuals, and then they fall so miserably during crucial scenes, like the fake angry hug at the end of AUJ or the Benny Hill chase with Smaug and the dwarves... or the way over the top barrel ride... or the melodramatic love triangle between Legolas/Tauriel/Kili.

Beautiful picture of Thranduil.

Absurd one of Legolas – that's the sort of thin-lipped, 'grim' expression that has never worked in this character, in my view.

Thorin's Concept art [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm sure many of you have already seen this particular group of concept art for Richard Armitage's Thorin, but I guess it's ok posting it again (from TORn's Facebook page):

The one in the middle of the first column, from left to right, is my favorite. Oh well!

I as well - end of AUJ is magnificently done [In reply to] Can't Post

IMO Thorin behaved EXACTLY as an emotionally scarred, outwardly often hard warrior-king with a huge heart WOULD behave, when struggling to have to make a huge adjustment mentally over the fact that this home-loving hobbit that he dismissed had just, inexplicably, nearly died to save him. (I always think it says a lot about both characters that the first thing Thorin does is ask after Bilbo, and Bilbo just so unconscious of what he has just done, really - just furrowing his brow worrying over Thorin and then smiling in relief.).

Wonderfully, wonderfully done, exquisitely performed by two masters of their craft.HeartHeartHeartHeartHeart

Agree it's BRILLIANT and I still well up (LOL the first time I saw AUJ, I jumped at Smaug blowing air out.....Cool)

Looking intense, though not the edgy I'd expect given the arc he has in BotFA. But it goes with the theme we've seem from Gandalf, and Bard's poster. Let's hope, or at least I do, that Thranduil gets the same respect.Mad
