is it a troll too ? I'm probably wrong but I'm seeing a creature that has more or less the head of an elephant... Is it even alive ? I really can't work out what it actually is. Maybe it's one of those "tank" creatures, but maybe it's a bit too small for that...

...someone brought catapults. I am more intrigued by the host in the background over the ridge of the horizon (Rohan allusion, anyone?) Looks like these is the Dwarves' cavalry. But what are those projectiles above them? Are the dwarves using slings?

that this was originally an artwork of the battle itself, and Bilbo was put there on afterwards, but wasn't planned to take the center of this picture initially, or even be there at all

I wonder if PJ will actually let the battle play out the way it was in the book? I'm hoping for a war council between Bard, Thranduil, Gandalf and Dain. That

Magazine articles have made mention of Trolls (and other previously unmentioned critters) at the Battle of Five Armies. This confirms at least part of those reports.

I love how enormous those trolls are. Look unstoppable. Could indeed be that they have Beorn face one of these, if Bolg and Azog already meet their death at the hands of others ( still looks like Legolas will kill Bolg, and Thorin and Azog murder each other).
