This draws on the Silm of course:
Do Wood-elves Hunt Animals? Bonus:
Fan of both books and movies; I am a lurker by nature though it seems I have severely misnamed myself... for the moment.

Thrall Wars!: What business do Elves, Dwarves or Men(?) have with drooling thralls, yea, with smartphones in tow, unto the slopes of Erebor? ... oh, yes, the Hobbit's lingering in some shadows, ever ready to swoop to the hairy rescue. Take cover if you dare! Teh partsies: Prologue (aka the 'tater-mash of whatever came before), two, three, three-appendix: An Unexpected Flashback, four, five (new, posted 20 August) "BoFA"= The Battle || "BotFA"/"tBotFA" = The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies =======

Including the second image of Thranduil about to go scar-face: http://newboards.theonering.net/...i?post=778703#778703 And yours too, VValar, the links from last thread. Dramatic and a little heart-breaking. http://newboards.theonering.net/...i?post=778470#778470 All of the above so artistically rendered too (making Lurker's link in the post above so very relevant to me right now) Lurker! You forgot (?) my request for this thread's OP image! Yet how can I chastise you when I hardly ever post pretty OR start a thread myself. It is me who must be chastised. So to try and remedy this, I found this (possibly a repost. Ooh, should 'repost' be part of the 'pretty' lexicon?)
I like these slightly dark images that make my heart churn. Speaking of heart churning, I have finished the Silm part of the Silm. All these years having heard about Earendil with the Silmaril on his brow, and now I know what that's about, at last. Gives me something to' look for' in the night sky too. I am kind of in mourning for the FA Elves in general, and that I've almost come to the end, and that the movies have almost come to the end, But there is UT and CoH still to read, and DVD extras and EEs still to come.

I'm a mite disappointed in UK Mag Total Film. I mean, you're supposed to know films, right? You're not some glossy tabloid or Women's Weekly. Was browsing said mag's TH article in a store, and this image...
bears this caption: "Bard readies the Men of Dale." Hope someone pointed out the several levels of inaccuracy to the person responsible. Pity they didn't do so before going to print.

D'ya know, a long platinum blonde mane now turns my head on the street? (usually a woman, but still...) Likewise, really tall people. I was in a lift the other day with a really tall guy, and I wanted to ask him (but wasn't bold enough) how tall he was. Just to see if he was 6 ft 5, so I could imagine, y'know... How our fandoms affect our RL!

In reply to Though: Gah, I need to read the Silm again. Well, everything, if I'm being honest. For what it's worth, that's how I feel ---------------------------------------------------------------- That goes for me too. It's a year or several since I read the Silm and most of it has faded away from me now. I have to confess that at the time I found it a little hard going compared to LotR. I just wish this forum had been around then. However, now I am enjoying reading all the discussions about it and following all the links everyone helpfully posts. I just haven't retained enough of it to join in the dialogue yet.

Lurker! You forgot (?) my request for this thread's OP image! Nay, it is not forgotten, merely postponed. I did mean it when I said I want to try to work in a little surprise, your trip being the perfect time-buying excuse while I try to figure out the mechanics of making the surprise work Hopefully it will feature in the first thread I start after you return fully charged and rearing to set TA on fire

Me too! Plus, after that, you can start ficcing the slightly dark stuff to churn the hearts of others you know, put in the thousand words that go with the image
