Re everyone's feelings about no more Thranduil scenes in the EE: W ow, it seems like this negative reaction is pretty wide-spread all across the fandom! Hopefully PJ and co will take note and not make the same mistake with the BotFA EE! Somehow, this feels vindicating. I am an unabashed thrall of Thranduil's for sure. No one can accuse me of innocence in this regard but hey, doesn't mean I don't have any awareness as a book-reader or a movie-goer. Just stripping away my Thranduil thralldom (sounds wrong but ), I say with confidence PJ's decisions seems unfathomable, looking at those two scenes vs what we seemed to have gotten. It's not just thralls saying it on TORn at least. I've seen posts where the guys think so too. Surely not all are rabid Thranduil fanciers? But yes, good to know elsewhere the sentiments are similar.

are we getting so much bts Thranduil goodies because this is PJ's way of trying to make up for no new Thranduil in the movie?? Or is it par for course? I can't tell but either way... no deal, PJ! You're still not absolved regardless!

I know how you feel! Though, is it me does the front of the outfit look sorta incomplete? Like it's sort of a draft version that's awaiting completion.
The fact that it looks like he's using his sword as a vanity mirror isn't helping. Does too! but hey, GiF! He's just brandishing it about and marvelling at it.
P.S. I assume his fabulous transportation there must be the horse named Moose who plays Bubba the War Elk! Either Moose himself or a fake horse? He seems rather placid and immobile there.

Maybe even doing his own theme music as he sneaks up on someone! LOL!!! Now I can't get the idea out of my head, but just LOL!!! Thanks, Eruvandi, I needed that. Poor Thranduil though. What he has to live down after this and there's still bloopers yet unseen

And he pronounces Smaug differently as well, in a typical English/American kind of way. The 'au' in Smaug sounding more like an 'ô'. Same happend when some of the actors had to pronounce Saruman and it sounded all wrong or when the actor playing Theoden said 'Rohèn' instead of 'Rohan'. I was like dude it's your own freakin country. Learn to say it right I remember Chrisopher Lee being very vigilant about it, wanting the pronounciation to be the exact way Tolkien had meant it. It makes sense for native EN speakers to get it wrong the first time around because they use a different intonation than the European languages Tolkien had based on his LotR languages. I'm always completely put off when I hear 'mistakes' like that. But for what it's worth PJ, Thranduil isn't the easiest name to pronounce for me either so you are forgiven. However you are certainly NOT forgiven for excluding the Thranduil hotness from DOS EE. And I'm going to remind you about it for a veeeeeeery long time. Wow... fascinating! Never realise there's such a difference between English and continental European speak. Too bad, for us here, the proper pronunciation guide is not used when we're taught which is why English, and everything else can really sound really mangled at times. I guess I'm lucky I have a fairly good ear though I botch stuff sometimes too.

well, we'll just have to wait and see, as ever, won't we?
Hey look at that my textbox is doing weird things without my permission again such as altering my font size. Really need to start posting in that thread you linked earlier Lurker, where they might be able to fix this problem. I always have had these problems with TORn btw, it's just that normally I change everything back to normal before hitting post reply. But like I said I'm lazy today and confused by all the Thranduil Pretty still so I'm not gonna hmmm... have you checked your profile settings? though, yes if you're on the advanced editor mode. It does take on the fomatting applied through your word processor if you're doing a copy and paste?

Absolutely! Mr Anger-Issues himself Love the first one though it isn't really shocking news. No one can rival Thranduil's beauty!

You know... I just don't understand these decisions

except if I take the view that the writers wanted to see THEIR "creative" decisions take a bigger share of screentime than focusing on doing a great adaptation, which was a lot less evident in LotR I feel. I don't need a paragraph-by paragraph re-enactment, but just reading the spoilers about the extended scenes, I'm not seeing anything that ADDs to the story as told by the prof, but rather padding the story up with the writers' inventions, and the not-so-good ones at that. I can live with them wanting to make a bigger mark with their ideas - and they did have some great ones, but when it seems the decision is really doing not much but be detrimental rather then enhance the story, BLEH! And I'm not talking just about not having either of the great deleted Thranduil scenes we've seen. *sigh*
