(from TAV ) It's LP under Thranduil's badass amour, no body faking needed Well Thralls, did that get your attention? Thanks to Avandel's remark about visuals (and the term body faking) and Thranduil in his armour (in this post on this thread she started in the Off-Topic forum)...
Quote Or Thranduil:
And if you look at a larger version of this, or various up close images of the elves - that's Lee Pace under that cloth. No body faking ... I got to posting *ahem*supporting evidence that no body faking is needed. For your analysis and comment please
Quote LOL body faking... got to remember that term. Truly, LP has the frame and the mass... au naturel Strapping shoulders...check
Great arms... check
Broad back... check
Height... check

VValar, I totally adore that “I have a Jacuzzi” pic! It just so suits his expression somehow. Teehee yes now you mention it, it is a very suitable screencap for when he would actually say it.
was all on my lonesome, getting over my rotten cold and sinus issues - I even had an eye infection and couldn't see properly, and no one to look after me... and now you've sent some gorgeous EI pics, I can imagine LP and TH delivering hot soup and shoulder rubs, am feeling immediately better. Poor girl I hope you feel better soon. What a cup of hot soup and some pretty pictures can do for ya, eh? Just a little get-well-soon picture
I am also liking the fan art of Glorfindel earlier in this thread. Though I can’t see Sandro Kopp (the coronation elf) in that role. I mean, I can see him in it, I just have a different face in my mind’s eye, and can’t put a name to it, yet… Oh you guys actually know the actor's name of the blond Elf with Elrond? See, you all know so much, I truly feel like a newbie in here. It's funny how we all picture a different Glorfindel. Too bad they didn't film him in the LotR.

hmm... blue eyes? Or lighting? Been wondering about the blue tinge and lightness of Thranduil's eyes since LP mentioned icy grey contacts somewhere?

Such cuteness all around, little Legolas trying to grab the swag stag A question just popped into my head by looking at this picture (and wondering what Legolas' mother would have looked like). Does anyone seem to notice that, although described in TH as having golden hair, Thranduil has silver hair in the film? Indoors it does indeed look like a mixture of gold/silver, but when you take a good look at it with natural light (outdoors), he really does have silver hair
Do you suppose it's a little error of the crew of TH, or do you think they will adjust the colouring of the shots for the final movie? When you compare it with Legolas' hair, it's obvious he has a different colour than his father. Instead of silver, he appears to have golden hair. This is Legolas in natural light (outside) in TH
In FotR
Legolas in RotK indoors. It still looks much blonder than, for example, the white/silver hair of Gandalf http://images2.fanpop.com/...151835-1920-1088.jpg I read this on the net, concerning Elven hair colour (Tolkien gateway): In general, the Vanyar were golden-haired, and other Elves (including the Noldor, Sindar, and Avari) had dark (brown) or even black hair, although some of the Teleri, including Celeborn, had silver hair (.....) Additionally, a silver hair colour existed in the royal houses of the Sindar, with Thingol, Círdan and Celeborn all described as having silver hair. Seeing Thranduil is Teleri, and there is no record of Teleri Elves having golden hair, it would seem that he is related to the royal house of the Sindar for he indeed does share the same trait of having silver hair. (That's still a bit up for debate since Tolkien didn't state this directly. However he did leave behind many pieces of evidence that one can link to each other to eventually come to said conclusion. There is more to it than just the haircolor. An amazing piece of writing about this topic can be found here for those who are interested: http://kiryatanmeres.blogspot.nl/). So if the moviemakers were thinking somewhere along the same line, it would explain the silver hair they gave Thranduil (as opposed to the golden hair he was descriped with in TH). Now getting back to Legolas. Though most of the golden-haired Elves were Vanyar, there were also two exeptions to the rule: The golden hair colour is sometimes implied among the other Elves: Amroth, a Sindarin Elf of Lórien is one such case, whose hair is described as "bright" and shining like a spark of gold in the sun. and Another Noldo with unusual hair colour was Glorfindel, whose hair is described as of "shining gold" in colour. So, what's the deal here? Why do Thranduil and Legolas seem to differ (moviewise) in hair colour? Do you reckon it has something to do with the lighting and adjustments that still need to be made to the final film? Or do you think what you see is what you get? We haven't really seen any extended footage of Thranduil being outside, except for the teaser trailer that has presumably already been editted. And he really does have silver hair in the trailer. And how come Legolas seem to have golden hair? Is he one of the exceptions Tolkien wrote about, like Glorfindel or Amroth? Or maybe his mother is Vanyar(related) and he got his looks from her? That might be an interesting theory, as most people assume Thranduil's wife was Silvan (and does not have golden/silver hair). Or maybe I'm just far-stretching this haircolor-thing way too much and I'm totally missing something here I'm nowhere near an expert on Tolkien's writings and there is SO much I don't know yet about the amazing world he created. But I hope I made sense and I'm really interested to know what you guys think of this!

And I'm aware that this beautiful little photoshopping to create the same lighting-effect in two different pictures is not really helping me stating my point about the different haircolours father and son have either But look just at it, it's pretty

Too funny! Although, I don't think there's any way to improve on the awesome facial expressions Lindir and Elrond give in the movie. IMO Elrond looked like: "Eru, give me strength..." and Lindir looked all worried like, "Oh, my goodness, I think Lord Elrond's head is going to explode!"

I had always thought of Thranduil as being something of a chameleon in his surroundings. In his throne room, his hair seems to have a golden hue, which is supported by his the gold undertone of his robe, and the warm amber hues of the palace surrounds and lighting. In his chambers, his robe and his hair seem to blend into the silvery bark with mauve hints in surrounding organic pillars. And here in the snow, white and silver – both the silver of snow glimmer and of armour, with the blueness of cold climate carried through in his garment. Incidentally, I had previously overlooked that he has a gem on his brow! I do love how Elven crowns and head-pieces carry most of their weight (slight as it might be) on the back of the head rather than the brow. You can see this too with the head-pieces that Arwen wears. (sorry am not supporting this with pics, due to posting quickly from work!)
So if the moviemakers were thinking somewhere along the same line, it would explain the silver hair they gave Thranduil (as opposed to the golden hair he was descriped with in TH). But I like this. I do note they didn’t think along those lines for Celeborn’s look though. I believe his hair IIRC was light brown or honey blonde. That is one seriously interesting blog post you linked to! I’ve had to speed-read a little while at work, but am bookmarking it for more intense study later. I particularly like the brief analysis of Thranduil’s name, and the meaning of “kindred” in the text. Oh you guys actually know the actor's name of the blond Elf with Elrond? See, you all know so much, I truly feel like a newbie in here. Well I do – I’ve met the guy, at a very small and casual con in Australia. He is Tilda Swinton’s partner btw, they met on the Narnia set in NZ, where he played a centaur.
