And hope you'll continue to pop in
Fan of both books and movies. Oh, and it seems I have severely misnamed myself... for the moment. Appreciating Thranduil, thread by thread: I, II, III, IV, V, VI "BoFA"= The Battle || "BotFA"/"tBofTA" = The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies =======

....exactly where the Party King thing originated, with the 80s louvre glasses and all. So I googled it: "On Tumblr, the most dramatic breakout character in the Hobbit films is Thranduil, played by Lee Pace. However, those who remember the antagonistic elf-king from the book may be surprised to find him here sporting shutter shades and a solo cup. The “Party King Thranduil” meme apparently originated in a 2012 promotional still, where the character was described as “knowing how to throw a party.” This drawing by the popular fan artist Gingerhaze brought it to attention, and since then it’s spread into fan art, photo edits, and the universal currency of Tumblr: comic sans memes." Here FYI is the link to above article on Tolkien memes, http://www.thecredits.org/...century-film-fandom/ (LOL at the Mean Elves video clip) And the original Party King poster. http://missnerd.tumblr.com/...hranduil-was-missing Well now I know! And so do you.

... when I saw it. The source was, of all things, a children's picture book tie-in with the AUJ release, and apparently the first proper view of Thranduil released via any officious channel. This article prolly didn't help (check out the GIF in the second comment though ). Thanks for looking it up and sharing it, Kerewyn. ... Thorin in a tracksuit and reality height-approriate though *sniggles* (risks threadlock with reply)

...and remember to credit Eowyn of Penns Woods for the "official" Thranduil Thrall moniker!
