Is this a statue or pillar from Dol Guldur in the background?

I also thought it looks rather Elvish. [In reply to] Can't Post

But of course his set could have been in the same hall as the Rivendell set... so it does not say much.

Will this (the footage) be included in the extended edition documentary? [In reply to] Can't Post

Anyone who have seen this knows if this will be included in the extended documentary?
Or will this be exclusive to this edition only?

I wonder if it will be included, [In reply to] Can't Post

in the Extended Edition, or at least make it available, for everyone in the official page, like what they did with LOTR.

For those of you, who are outside US, like me, there's this small preview from Best Buy's youtube channel.

As the Company enter Rivendell over the bridge, there are two statues either side. This is one of those statues.

King Thror's head! (Geeky observation alert) [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks for posting this! It looks like an interesting feature. Cool

By the way, did anyone else notice the runes written on the prop of King Thror's head? They quite clearly spell AZOG! You can see them well in these screencaps:

Picture 1
Picture 2

So it's similar to the book, only in this case the name seems to be carved instead of branded. Gotta love the attention to detail. Shocked

By the way, this isn't actually visible in the movie, is it? I know the scene is quite brief and there might not be enough of a close-up to get a good look. Oh well, just something else to look for in subsequent viewings.

Great observation. [In reply to] Can't Post

I thought they were just cuts. Perhaps we'll see Azog scar the head in the EE? Maybe it was deemed too gruesome for the theatrical release?

Wow -- that's perfect! [In reply to] Can't Post

I just love the attention to detail that goes into these movies. Even if Thror was slain at the wrong time, it was done correctly otherwise. Great observation, and I can't wait to have that pause button to see if we really can see the runes in the movie!

By the way, even more lovely to look at than the runes on Thror's head: there are two cute pictures of Fili & Kili grinning up on the walls in the background.

Ok, this is very gruesomely awesome.... [In reply to] Can't Post

....and I'm extremely pleased (EXTREMELY) that it's in Cirth Erebor rather than Old English Futhark (as almost everything else has been so far)

It annoys me in yet another way, in that the fact they're using Cirth Erebor -here- but not elsewhere shows a lack of consistency Unsure

I suppose I can't be properly satisfied when it comes to runes Unimpressed

But mega-awesome anyhow.

Cheers for posting and thanks to Dark Jackal for uploading [In reply to] Can't Post

Is this documentary going to be on all DVDs or just some select editions?

Also could this be Gloin in Erebor? He's got a gold coin and the background has that greenish tint that Erebor had.
