Did you do any of this while watching 3D? [In reply to] Can't Post

A friend of mine who's a magazine editor has theorized that the reason critics wrote bad reviews was because they can't take notes with the glasses on (in fact, one of the vlogs had PJ kvetching about having 3D glasses and reading glasses, which would be a pain).

Question [In reply to] Can't Post

I would appreciate if you could tell me where exactly did you see Bifur and Gloin in the battle of Azanulbizar. Very nice list! I really like people like you. :D I would also add that Throrīs armor is made up of scales, as if it was foresahdowing Smaug. Again, sweet detailed list, keep it up! Wink

A little addition [In reply to] Can't Post

Amazing list, I'll have many things to look out for when I see it again on Friday Smile

One little note to 216: the official Hobbit movie guide mentions that the handle of Orcrist is a dragontooth.

And one thing I noticed is at the end on the Carrock, Kili, in his haste to help up Thorin, steps on Orcrist. Then directly after he steps back, Orcrist becomes victim of heavy dwarf boots once again, this time by Thorin standing on it. I thought that rather amusing when I saw it.

"...but Dori groaned "my poor legs, my poor legs!" [In reply to] Can't Post

What an awe-inspiring list, gramma - and labour of great love! Thank you!

And you know, this is merely the beginning...Cool

i've one item to add, which I noticed even on first viewing. In the book, Dori is picked up by an eagle, and Bilbo catches hold of his legs and hangs on as they're flown off. This is acknowledged in the film by Ori's holding onto Dori's legs as they hang from the tree by Gandalf's staff!

The dale soldiers do not have the same helms than the Gondor soldiers. I donīt have enough english level to describe tyou the helm, but I assure you itīs not the same. Try watching it more closely in the cinema, or better wait until the dvd release (or if youīre a bad person, thereīs a certain leaked movie running around freely through the Internet.....Tongue)

I have some observations [In reply to] Can't Post

Dwalin seems to give Ori his hammer at some time in Goblin Town. He can be seen wielding it in this screenshot

http://cdn.mos.totalfilm.com/...23192-00-810-100.jpg

Bofur loses his mattock at some point during the escape and uses an Orc two handed axe instead. Others have pointed out Nori loses his mace and replaces it with a orc sword. I thought he had an axe but I've only seen yhe film once.

now I'm confused..... [In reply to] Can't Post

I just got home from seeing the film again,,,twice, I haven"t read any of the newer posts since last night, so someone may have already done this, but I'm kinda correcting myself in what I posted before about the buttons or lack of them and how he buttons his vest later. It seemed before that the top button was still there and the rest popped off. But watching it today, I am not sure what button is left. He definitely does have the top button hole empty, but if he had put the top button into the second button hole, as I had previously said, that would mean that the left side of his vest would be higher. But that is not the case. The left side of his vest is lower than the right side. With the top button whole still empty, that would mean the middle button is the one that remains, and that just doesn't seem right. Hence, I'm confused.Unsure
*sigh.....guess I need to go back aain tomorrow.....Smile

THESE ARE GREAT!!! :D I'm working throught all of these [In reply to] Can't Post

And I VERY VERY MUCH appreciate your help! I've got some more to add and am making corrections and changes in this current list as I bring ALL of our observations together into one list. My goal is to get it updated and on my Geeky site this weekend (of January 12-13, 2013).

Please... keep 'em coming! I'll be checking this post and all posts for more that I've missed so far.

On that note... if there is anyone who would like to volunteer to help me do that digging, I'd really appreciate and welcome your help.

I will be going through the entire life of this Hobbit Discussion Board and also compiling the observations made from trailers (which hold info not in the film), Unused scenes (got several already, ie Bilbo at Hobbiton market, Gandalf at Dol Guldur, etc.), armor, music, casting information, etc. I'm still working on lists of LotR! :D

One thing to note. I do not include negative things. No nit-picky things, no inconsistencies, stuff like that. With all of the work and brilliance that goes into these films, I don't want to diminish them with negativity. That's a list for someone else to build. PLUS can you imagine how HUGE these lists would be if we included ALL of the things people think are nasty? *shakes head*

So please let me know via pm is you'd like to help hunt and peck through the posts to find all of the good stuff to add to our Geeky Observations Lists. These do, afterall, belong to TORn and to all of you! I'm just the steward :)

THANKS! *runs off to read posts... and go to work... and go to the movies*

Two things that struck me right away (very good things in my opinion) [In reply to] Can't Post

are actually not things at all (I'm hopeless at objects). Don't know whether they've been remarked on by anyone else in another thread, been gone for almost two weeks and can't find anything using the 'search posts' button. So please forgive me if these points have been mentioned and discussed in detail before... Crazy

The first of said things relates to the fact that now, finally, we know how Gollum, when tortured, was able to betray to Sauron where the Ring could be found. In 'Riddles in the Dark', the scriptwriters have Bilbo tell Gollum not only his name (as he does in the book) but also explain that he is a hobbit from the Shire (which he doesn't in the book, and I think it's because Tolkien at that time probably hadn't given the name 'The Shire' to the hobbits' homeland). So now the Ringwraiths know where to look... It's like tying up loose threads and making the connection to said scene in the LotR films.

And the second gratifying thing is that in a couple of scenes (don't remember which ones but I've only seen the film four times so far) Martin Freeman's Bilbo shows a definite likeness to Pippin, which pleases me greatly as Bilbo is, after all, half a Took, yet Freeman and Billy Boyd aren't related to each other at all (as far as I know anyway).

Gramma, what a great list! I'll peruse it again before sallying forth to the cinema again (hopefully on the weekend if my cold/touch of flu has vanished by then). Thank you so much! Smile

'Goodness gracious, you really are a messie!' 'Oh no, I'm not, these are all just mathoms...'

My comments of the "boo boos" aren't meant as negative or nasty....just having a bit of fun. I enjoy finding them and hearing about them. Just means that we are all just human....everyone makes mistakes...they say we learn from them...and if you can't laugh at them, well....lighten up and enjoy life....it's too short. If I thought these to be negative...then I wouldn't be going back, again and again, to watch these films. I just so enjoy them!!!!!

And I totally agree that all the work on these films is brilliant. I am so blessed to have met, or at least seen, some of these wonderful people who create, work on or are in these wonderful films....including Peter Jackson, Richard Taylor and Guillermo Del Toro.

So relax sweetie.....this "Grammy" to nine wonderful grandchildren means nothing negative with all this mistake business....it's all in good fun...Angelic

Gotta run........my seat in the theater is calling me....

Woohoo!! #19 :D [In reply to] Can't Post

WAY AWESOME, MALLA!

No worries on the nitpicky! Believe me! I see them too and do not think badly AT ALL about all of us sighting them :) We definitely each make mistakes... and so many of these are comical... like a piece of Bilbo's contract ripping away after he jumps the fence and goes tearing down the hill! *winkie wink*

So never hesitate to share EVERYTHING you see... especially after BLESS YOU 19 viewings! It's just a warning that they won't show up on the list ;)

*huggles*

YOU ROCK!

PS... I can't help but ask... how was #19? If you're like me, I know you keep seeing something new every time!
