Pic of Rhosgobel's exterior Can't Post

For any one who hasn't seen this pic (I hadn't until today)
http://www.henneth-annun.ru/...dagast_rhosgobel.jpg

Thoughts/Comments? Personally I think it looks fantastic and very much like the sort of place that Radagast would live: bizarre, cosy-looking and improvised around the natural world.

I don't think that's new. [In reply to] Can't Post

I saw one very like that recently, if it wasn't the same one.

Thanks for that, at least fortunately I didn't say it was new, just thought I'd give the link so that those who hadn't seen it could do so and could comment on it// [In reply to] Can't Post

Ah ok thanks [In reply to] Can't Post

I haven't got a copy of that book (yet!) so I had no idea as to its original source.

I hadn't noticed the peak is a giant birdhouse. [In reply to] Can't Post

It looks like the top slats all have holes in them and there's lots of guano and straw sticking out.

When WETA gets it right, they really get it right [In reply to] Can't Post

But when they don't, they really don't!

Not a fan of this look. Seems more appropriate for a Tim Burton world, not Tolkien's.

Eh. It's okay. [In reply to] Can't Post

I'd like something more mysterious though. Preferably something on the ground...

I have liked most of the designs thus far... [In reply to] Can't Post

...but also think that this one doesn't cut it. It feels like just another stereotypical enchanted house in the forest. Actually, it reminds me of a tree playhouse at a children's fairytale/nursery-rhyme park I went to growing up.Crazy

It's a bit small [In reply to] Can't Post

but otherwise pretty much how I imagined.

Everything we know about Radagast suggests someone who would prefer to live in a naturalistic structure in close proximity to nature, rather than a building of brick or stone.

A Far Dragon is the best kind...

I imagined him living in something similar but still practical [In reply to] Can't Post

So something like this, but not lifted into a tree house. I like nature and would love a cabin, doesnt mean i want it to be taken over by a tree, lol. Right next to a tree so the tree becomes a feature of the house with the trunk being support for a wall and a branch helping to make part of the roof would have looked better to me.

But then you imagined him with bird poop running down his face so you and PJ must be on the exact same wavelength, lol.

This will look brilliant in the finished film [In reply to] Can't Post

Exposed like this the design is a little wonky and 'generic' fantasy but it's not gonna come across in that way once Peter's finished with it.

Empire mentioned a fun fact about it [In reply to] Can't Post

Apparently Radagast just built an ordinary, little house for his needs, but then an oak tree started growing through the floorboards. Being the person that he is, Radagast then tended and nurtured the tree until it pretty much overwhelmed the entire building. So it's not a house built in a tree, but a house that a tree lifted up.

A little generic, maybe... [In reply to] Can't Post

It does feel a bit generic, but then again, not every location needs some stunning, innovative vista. I'll judge after I see the finished landscape.
