For any one who hasn't seen this pic (I hadn't until today) http://www.henneth-annun.ru/...dagast_rhosgobel.jpg Thoughts/Comments? Personally I think it looks fantastic and very much like the sort of place that Radagast would live: bizarre, cosy-looking and improvised around the natural world.

I saw one very like that recently, if it wasn't the same one.

Thanks for that, at least fortunately I didn't say it was new, just thought I'd give the link so that those who hadn't seen it could do so and could comment on it//

I haven't got a copy of that book (yet!) so I had no idea as to its original source.

It looks like the top slats all have holes in them and there's lots of guano and straw sticking out.

But when they don't, they really don't! Not a fan of this look. Seems more appropriate for a Tim Burton world, not Tolkien's.

I'd like something more mysterious though. Preferably something on the ground...

...but also think that this one doesn't cut it. It feels like just another stereotypical enchanted house in the forest. Actually, it reminds me of a tree playhouse at a children's fairytale/nursery-rhyme park I went to growing up.

'What happened was that a tree started growing up through his house, Radagast being Radagast said "Well, if you want to grow, you can grow, and you can live with me and I'll live with you." And between them, they created this wonderful house.' Quoted from Sibley's Official Movie Guide

but otherwise pretty much how I imagined. Everything we know about Radagast suggests someone who would prefer to live in a naturalistic structure in close proximity to nature, rather than a building of brick or stone.
A Far Dragon is the best kind...

So something like this, but not lifted into a tree house. I like nature and would love a cabin, doesnt mean i want it to be taken over by a tree, lol. Right next to a tree so the tree becomes a feature of the house with the trunk being support for a wall and a branch helping to make part of the roof would have looked better to me. But then you imagined him with bird poop running down his face so you and PJ must be on the exact same wavelength, lol.

With all the BirdHouses in the top tiers (Notice all the holes?) In 3D hundreds of CGI birdseys will be flying in&out.. Chripping Cheeping Freaking the Audience out. You have to remember RTB. Is the" Veterinarian EXTRa-ordinar of MiddleEarth" Wizard.

Exposed like this the design is a little wonky and 'generic' fantasy but it's not gonna come across in that way once Peter's finished with it.

Apparently Radagast just built an ordinary, little house for his needs, but then an oak tree started growing through the floorboards. Being the person that he is, Radagast then tended and nurtured the tree until it pretty much overwhelmed the entire building. So it's not a house built in a tree, but a house that a tree lifted up.

It does feel a bit generic, but then again, not every location needs some stunning, innovative vista. I'll judge after I see the finished landscape.
