Haven't been posting much. I'm livin' La Vida Sandy. . No power in the house for the 4th day so far. Living on a borrowed generator for the fridge and the sump pumps, and a gas fireplace. We have to conserve gasoline bc the state only has limited fuel. Lines for gas stations are hours long to wait. If we don't get power back soon.... There's another storm due mid next week, a Nor'easter. Sorry, no punch line. I hope my next post will be under better circumstances.

I know what it's like to live without basic amenities, and it ain't no picnic. Hang in there, and I hope things improve for you soon. Do you live with others? I'm hoping you aren't having to go through this on your own.

I'm glad you're getting some heat, and keeping the food cool and the pumps going. I've been reading horror stories about trying to get gas at the pumps in your area. How far are you from the shoreline, and what damage was there near you? Has there been any word on power restoration? Do you have somewhere safe to get to, if you need to? Our electric came back on late this afternoon, but there are still many in this area that are out. And downed wires, and boats on lawns, and ripped houses and roads along the shore. And I've been hearing rumors about that next storm too... Hang in there!

Don't stay inside, get outside and take a warming walk i'd say. Many pour souls do not have a generator. That must be a hard thing to have patience for. Hot tea, hot coffee, hot apple cider. You know the drill:). Build a little fire if you have too.

the other one is moving fiurther down, but I wrote something Sil. I have been wondering--how is this going to affect the election? Not as to how NYS might flip--(i'm on a news boycott until after the election, so DONT mention the names Obama or Romney, please, or the polls or how it might go, etc).Just stick to this general topic: With all the public transport difficulties, how are people going to be able to vote? What are the plans for getting people to the polls or moving polling stations? Have Bloomberg or Chrstie addressed these issues? And how bad was Penn hit? (Incidentally, both Penn and NJ have Republican governors--this might be good news for them--or then again, maybe not. And this was just a general statement--so don't reply to this last please., just the topic above.)

for all of the torture and destruction your area has been suffering. I've been watching on the news. I can't even imagine what you all are going through. My prayers are with you. I'm so glad you're okay!

of the darn thing! We got just a glancing blow where I am--nothing major. We're with you "in spirit" here! Try to keep in touch if you can. And, seriously, if you need any practical help, Starling and silneldor may have some really good answers for you. (Sorry, I can't type paragraphs properly right now because my enter key isn't working! So forgive the "run-on.") How about a little distraction? I'll start it, and you can finish it! is fortune to have a window to feel a man's soul and heart and another to be brave enough, to just speak truly how he feels. This light shining through is a breath of fresh air in a terribly stuffy room.

And I'm going to ask you to drop all mention of my state and the current resident of the government-owned mansion in Harrisburg and the political party said occupant is supposed to represent. It's not about national politics. It's about the aforementioned resident. You really don't have a clue what many people here think, but daren't try saying publicly any more. Not even members of the same party. You can't know. The media has silenced too many, too often, and for too long. But trust me, it makes what you intended to be a throwaway political crack you could get away with even more distasteful to me. You've made promises in the past. Please try harder to keep them! It isn't fair to everyone else.

A lot of people are in for much more and there's a serious cold front coming in. I'm just happy to put it behind me. I lose power all the time anyway, due to the remoteness of where I live, this was like injury on top of injury, it's been an interminable year. Happy News: someone bought me The Art of The Hobbit (the book not the movie); I'd forgotten to check my mail and found it waiting for me yesterday; and I am now able to read it in the warmth & comfort of my home :)

Heat, and Water Hot! And most towns are down to single-digit percentages of outages. But the return to normalcy has been tempered by tragedy. We heard today about a local fatality, a guy who was helping remove trees had a limb fall on him. A young man...an old friend of Geeky Son's, they went through school together...the grief is still too close...

What a horrible situation for his family and your son.
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. of this young man. He was trying to help and it is tragic that his life was lost. It is a dangerous task dealing with these trees. Live wood is so very heavy and a fallen or leaning tree can move or fall in unexpected ways. Please give our condolences to your son from us dernwyn my friend.
