So is Sept. 21 really a probable release date, then? I'm already going to be celebrating that Second Breakfast thing so it'd be doubly-great if we got a new trailer then too.

I think the 19th is more likely (for the online release)

The trailers usually pop up 5-6 days after they're rated.

How does the length stack up? Pretty standard right?

2 and a half minutes is a normal length for a trailer. The teaser was so long because of the introdction of the dwarves and the song. I'm happy that the new trailer won't be too long. 2 and a half does it justice!

How much of that time is going to be new scenes vs. repeat scenes?

That we get absolutely no repeat scenes. A lot has been filmed and post-productioned since the teaser release last December. This will be new, and it will be epic.

I think it is going to be quite good!

I feel like I should try to avoid the trailer - I've already started to avoid a lot of this board since I realised I'd seen too many spoilers for my liking!

Yes! It looks like a September release is definitely going to happen, then...

But the question is, when? How soon was the last trailer released after it was rated?

WAY too excited for this, as I know that it will only intensify my need to see the movies. One thing that may come out of it is a certain ending for the movie, for instance if the eagle scene was show as the climax of the trailer; likewise, if Mirkwood is shown, than they will make it that far. Not to say I'm wanting that, just using my inductive powers. :P

At last it begins! I hope we’ll get a sense of how the White Council story will be handled. Flying Serkis, I know what you mean about becoming too spoiled. I will watch the trailer but have been thinking that after that I’ll start avoiding the discussion boards because I too don’t want to be any more spoiled than I am. I want the movie to surprise me. It’s too late for me to recapture the feeling of walking in to see FotR almost completely unspoiled twelve years ago. But it’s one thing to have read Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit or and be familiar with the story and another to know too much about how PJ is going to present it. Does anyone know if there will be any video logs between now and December? That is just enough spoiling for me. “The Great Trailer of our time” – good one Elutherian!
