and found a thorin's key, keychain, to be released in November, so I'm guessing it's the one in the film

(The reason I was having a look was to make sure if an item I have has a certificate or not, The One Ring Costume Ring (cheapest repica I could get) but seems not)

Thanks for posting this Welsh hero! I've been waiting ages for another picture of the key to appear online. Granted all I saw was the prototype, but I remember looking something like this!
Can anyone make out those runes?

That doesn't look like it's up to par with dwarvish or Weta craftsmanship. The engraving looks like a kindergartner did it. It's not symmetrical. Just a thought.

I don't think Weta would have designed the key to look like that, it's too sloppy, i.e. my guess is it's not from the film.

I'm almost certain that it is based on the film version, and it also matches the side of the 3D special edition glasses. See this thread.

I'm pretty sure it's the same key too. It was a lot bigger, mind. This is only a small, cheap replica keyring. I'm sure the actual prop will be more impressive.

Yes, that is a lot better, and a really nice design for a key. I wonder if they will bring out a better replica.

The prototype was published in a German newspaper once.

It looks the same to me, just not finished yet. The bits on the end are from where it has been CNC'd. I believe it's called a tit. (snicker)
