Walk to Rivendell and Beyond: There and Back Again Challenge! Can't Post

Welcome to the Walk to Rivendell, fair travelers! How's it going? Are you staying cool/warm/dry/hydrated (whichever is most apropos to your weather) as you stay active? Do tell, and bring your friends!

There and Back Again
Group Challenge Progress

Miles covered last week: 137.6
Cumulative miles: 7371.59
Miles along the journey: 491.44
Miles out of Rivendell: 94.44
We're between goblin attacks right now. Which seems somehow only marginally better than being in the middle of a goblin attack. Let's put some miles on and get outta here! And got any good riddles? Bilbo's going to be needing them soon!

My progress:
Miles covered this week: 3
Cumulative miles: 313
Goal: There and Back Again!
Well, my foot's had plenty of rest, and I'm itching to get back on the treadmill. Slowly. Not interested in setting myself back, not one little bit! And we have a TWIG update, too! We now have five tomatoes, three melons and four squashes digging their roots into our garden soil. Poor dears; our garden soil makes good pinch pots! Beamer and my Hobbit were quite helpful out there, digging and planting and mulching - gotta get 'em while they're young!

Beamer's progress:
Miles covered this week: 3
Cumulative miles: 305
Goal: Group Challenge

Howdy Walkers! [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Arandiel :) I'm so glad your foot is getting better! That so hard to "heel" because its used all the time! Love it that the kiddies and you are tending the garden together. That's fantastic :)

I've been cleaning and preparing for my g'kiddies coming TOMORROW!!!! *squeeee* They're staying for a month, so I'm trying to get everything done to not be distracted with anything other than them and work ;)

I'm almost to the Mountain! We've just landed on the shore near Dale and are starting to make our way towards the Mountain's foot. Oh geez. Why did I open the door that Spring day!?

Cheers to one and all! See you on the road!

Miles covered: 28
Cumulated miles: 906
Goal: #2 Unexpected Journey Individual Challenge and contributing to the Group :)
Weeks to go: 25 until December 14, 2012

I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world.

Not much actual activity this week. [In reply to] Can't Post

I did clean house like a fiend last weekend. I'm talking hands-and-knees-on-the-floor scrubbing! Of course, by now you can't even tell...Unsure
Whose idea was it anyway to have these two mess-makers?! Crazy

This Week In Gardening, we're winding down for the summer. The tomatoes are giving up the last of the fruit, the corn stalks are completely crunchy, the lettuce is worm food. But, those crazy watermelons and peppers are still at it. We now have four little watermelons, ranging in size from newborn piglet, to month-old piglet. They'll probably be ready when we go on vacation next week. Typical. Hopefully my father in law will remember to water them while we're gone.

Miles this week: 18.4
Cumulative miles: 358.7

and they knew that this was no vision only, but that PJ had made a new thing: The Hobbit, the Film that Is.

Scrub-a-dub-dub [In reply to] Can't Post

The garden is stressed and it's bleeding over into your crazy-busy day. You get massive brownie points for being such a great Mom and giving your family a wonderful home :)

I know I did insane cleaning and re-arranging this past 2 weeks. And it's all gone in the first 3 hours of the g'kiddies arriving from Baltimore. But we clean and scrub because we... uh... because... *ponders* Screw it... let's go to the mall :D

Late check-in [In reply to] Can't Post

I wasn't online much this weekend. Still walking, and I can jog about half my route now, as long as I do it in 1-2 minute increments. Laugh

Miles this (last) week: 33
Cumulative: 689

So that puts me on the trail in Mirkwood.

How will you get to the Lonely Mountain?

last week mileage update [In reply to] Can't Post

Here it is! I've changed my routine to in-house workouts, so there's not quite as much mileage. Just trying to get the most out of my time. But I plan to still work hard for the group goal!

last week: 13.8
Cumulative: 561.7
Goal: Group Challenge, there and back again

Everyone have a strong week! God bless!Heart

"It's like in the great stories Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And you didn't want to know the end...for how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But then you realize in the end it's just a passing thing, this shadow. A new day will come! And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stuck with you, that meant something. Even if you were too small to understand. But I think Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. The folk in those stories a lot of chances of turnin' back only they didn't. They kept going, because they were holdin' on to something."
"What are we holding onto, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for!"
