Faramir discussion: sign up right here.

I've combined CuriousG's and Elentari's proposals here, and would appreciate input and refinements before we untterly finalize. But for now, let's at least start off with these. If he's still able, Curious said he could likely do no. 1, F and Frodo If you'd like to host one of these, please reply in your subject line, and below that feel free to comment on any alterations you think might be good. (I love the idea of discussing Faramir largely through his relationships.) Discussion 1: F and Frodo (and Sam), CuriousG hosting Discussion 2: Leader of Gondor (his Rangers in Ithilien, Beregond's fan-boy love of him, his command of soldiers in general, F and the Warden) and or Elentari’s proposal here: Leader of the Rangers of Ithilien which can cover all of TTT and include all of the lovely quotes that we all know and love. Command of soldiers can come here too? Discussion 3 -Faramir and Denethor and Return of the King material "Siege of Gondor " Discussion 4 Faramir and Gandalf, Beregond, Faramir and Pippin Discussion 5- Faramir and Aragorn, in Houses of Healing then at Steward and the King chapter Discussion 6- Faramir and Eowyn- mostly Steward and the King. Speak, friend, and enter! (Just realized this was Gandalf's "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" moment!)

I really want to talk about the Steward since i think there are many cool facets to take away and really crave discussion again. Thank you Ethel for starting the thread and i may want to volunteer for Faramir&Pippin, Gandalf and Beregond discussion 4. Also want to add another week to see what Tolkien thought about Faramir since he didn't expect to write him in so that's a Letters type of week. Should we make this weekly or biweekly since it does seem a bit slow in here? I am flexible either way. :)
"By Elbereth and Luthien the fair, you shall have neither the Ring nor me!" ~Frodo "And then Gandalf arose and bid all men rise, and they rose, and he said: 'Here is a last hail ere the feast endeth. Last but not least. For I name now those who shall not be forgotten and without whose valour nought else that was done would have availed; and I name before you all Frodo of the Shire and Samwise his servant. And the bards and the minstrels should give them new names: Bronwe athan Harthad and Harthad Uluithiad , Endurance beyond Hope and Hope Unquenchable.." ~Gandalf, The End of the Third Age , from The History of Middle Earth series

The tenors seem to be crowding in with the altos and sopranos. I'll have to persuade them (cautiously) to take the middle risers.

There is a lot in flashback discussions but not direct conversation so a lot is probably gathered from other characters talking about Boromir. There is that one line in the appendix about the brothers getting along with each other despite age gap and differences so are you referring to that appendix part?
"By Elbereth and Luthien the fair, you shall have neither the Ring nor me!" ~Frodo "And then Gandalf arose and bid all men rise, and they rose, and he said: 'Here is a last hail ere the feast endeth. And possibly Boromir could be inclusive of that since we only hear from flashbacks how the brothers' relationship was?

He was a captain that men would follow, that he would follow, even under the shadow of the black wings."- Siege of Gondor, RotK
