The 10 a.m. TORn panel seems to have gone very well. Calisuri, MrCere, Quickbeam and author Kristen Thompson were the panel and all those attending got a free LOTR t-shirt and a deck of LOTR cards. The 300 available seats were filled to every last chair and security informed us they turned away "at least 400" others who wanted to be in the room, including 150 people that mostly just stayed in line. A few did get in due to early departures. Several TORn staffers were in the audience as well as message board TORnados and everything seemed to go smashingly. Hopefully next year they can manage a bigger room!

like a fun time for all. Thanks for keeping us at home informed.

So you could have had 2 or 3 sessions scheduled OR a humongous room! I'm so tickled for y'all :D What a rush, and so great to share with so many! I feel like we're teetering at the top of a mountain and about to race down the side... picking up people and momentum all the way down until The Hobbit hits the theatres. Then it's a whole new ballgame! *high five*

You guys were absolutely fabulous. I was given so many decks of cards throughout the two days I was there XD It was a pleasure being able to speak with you, deej, Calsuri, Arwen, CAHobbit, Quickbeam, and the others who aren't active board members but were once upon a time :P. And dinner was fantabulous, I simply had a blast :) I'll be expecting you next year! ;D PS. I bought the Comic con shirt but someone took it during the con >< Ah well... like I said, next year! ;)

Also, in the comic.con article I saw the 2010 2011 release dates again. Exciting thought, but was it just an error>?

I snagged one of Alan Lee's sketches and had some fun with my Microsoft Paint :) The original dates given for the release of The Hobbit and Film2 were 2010 and 2011; but it's also been said that the dates are 2011/2012. Since they haven't been working on the screenplays and the production is looking like starting in 2010 or (at the best) late 2009, it's looking to me like the 2011/2012 dates are the most likely. *sigh*

are usually set as target dates at first. They are never "set in stone". When a they were first posted at IMDB (and other places), it was pretty much in doubt as to whether they would even get made. They were not greenlit. IMDB posted them because, I assume, there was so much talk about them getting made. They post things that are rummors and noting so. The Hobbit was certain to find a way to get made if there was any way to do it. The thing is...when they post a movie, they have to post dates. So, when that was posted The Hobbit, the film was speculative and so were the dates. they were entirely guess work from who ever thay got their information from. Where it stands now is that dates won't likely be announced until a script is done and production starts. Please keep in mind, that anytiime you see a release date posted anywhere for any movie, it is always subject to change. There are films that get made and never find release dates at all. And then there is the issue of smaller films that limited releases and therfore sometimes have several release dates. Some get released in NY & LA for a few weeks then expend to a "wider" realease. That can still be a limited release to twelve or so major cities only in theaters that show art-house or independent-type films. Or, it can go wider. It often depends on word-of-mouth and audience appeal. Examples: "Little Miss Sunshine", "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"... which were both indies that went big. They were set for small releases. Then there are Film Festival movies. Officially, when it shows at a Fest, that counts as a realease date. But often a film doesn't show anywhere else but festivals or other countiries. If it gets pickeed up, then it will most likely go into limited release as described, if it gets great word-of-mouth & reviews, then it may get wider release: Example: "Momento". I keep a running file of all the films that the cast of LotR make, starting when RotK was released (send to my group the calender). And I keep a list for each season of the releases set for that season so that I will know what is coming out when and be ready for it. Doing that has made me aware of these patterns. I am also a film Festival goer and love more indie-types as well as big film and everything in between. Living in the middle of the Pacific, even in a large city (11th largest in US), it get quite tenuous as to whether or not a movie I want to see will make it here. There are as many smaller films as there are bigger films, if not more. Coming Soon. com is a good place to see this pattern emerge. So, the bottom line, take release dates cautiously... with a grain of salt. It is wise to wait until you are a lot closer to take it seriouly, Anything can happen to any iflm while it is production that can cause it to change its release date. All the same, they have to "give a date" for the selves and for data bases. Initially, that is more or less a "targget" date. — IMDB has a cautionary announcement: "Because this project is categorized as being in production, the data is subject to change; some data could be removed completely." That can mean: dates, cast, titles, crew, or other things. Hope that helps for understanding. DoN

Why TORn wasn't invited to the "webmaster" panel while other movie fansites were. Calisuri should have been on the panel.

I don't think TORn is much on the mind of CCon organizers and they other webmasters aren't suggestion people they should share the spotlight with.

I got locked out of the panel, so count me among the 400 disgruntled. I checked the boards up until Tuesday night, since I had an early Wednesday flight...how did I miss that?! I love seeing my TORn sibs,.... :( I did see Garfeimao, but MrCere was busy doing some kind of raffle thing at Sideshow when I dropped by. ---Tamara p.s. At least no one stole my exclusive t-shirt though! That sucks, AL!
