That's flat-out cruel! 5 copy limit. eBay fodder and outrageous prices on the horizon. *sighs* I'll just be happy to finally have something from the Master after all these years. But still... >:

It is a Tuesday. Perhaps my wife and i could take the day off, take the train in and get 10 copies. How much $are we looking at here? Ideas anyone?
"Tolkien, like Lewis, believed that, through story, the real world would become a more magical place, full of meaning. We see its patterns and colors in a fresh way. The recovery of a true view of the world applies both to individual things, like hills and stones, and to the cosmic - the depths of space and time itself. For in sub-creation, in Tolkien's view, there is a "survey" of space and time. Reality is captured on a miniature scale. Through stories like The Lord of the Rings, a renewed view of things is given, illuminating the homely, the spiritial, the physical, and the moral dimensions of the world." Tolkien and C.S. I read this with eyes like saucers! I am no where near NY - I so doubt there would be any Australian Launch LOL!! Rally The Troops!!! Ive already ordered mine - but one to read , and one to admire into my old age ... Aiye, I can do that!! Anyone who is going ... can you pm me if you need to make up the numbers! (Im not sure how much they are?) I wonder how many they have available ... though being able to get 5 is good - at least it's not open to as many as you can physically balance and get out the door with Ah yes ... I'll bet they'll be hitting ebay too. Its a wonder there not a line started already Cant wait for TCoH release day!! Yay!!

...since it is only about 5 blocks from my office. The question is, how early would I need to get there? Camping out all night in midtown doesn't sound like much fun. If I can get there, though, I'm happy to pick up as many as I can for those who can't make it.

This is such a significant event (the book release, not just the NYC release) that TORn is considering making it a formal event. We are of course looking to see how much interest there is and who can be responsible for stuff. Keep your eyes peeled and . . . somebody mind picking me up a copy!?

Although I'm not sure I can escape from rehearsals that day... I've already tried to enlist a NYC friend to help me out, but it's tough to ask someone else to queue for hours on one's behalf! That's above and beyond the call of duty... If anyone has a 'spare' copy I'd love one! (Yeah, me and everyone else here...!!)

Adanedhel, you are mistaken about being mistaken :) The books do indeed come with authentic autographs, not printed. The bookplate just means Lee/CT didn't sign the physical book, they signed a piece of paper or something which is placed inside of the book. If anything I would rather have a bookplate than a signed book, because then I can take it out of the book and frame it.
