Great article, thanks for sharing! A couple highlights
The top draw at the conference was Sir Ian McKellen - organisers were charging 195 pounds plus booking fee for an autographed photograph of him. "He was saying 'my shoulder is so sore' - he's in his 80s now - from shaking hands." His fellow cast mates told him off for spending so long with each person, saying he needed to pace himself. and
Two of the Hobbits, Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd, now have their own TV series, Billy and Dom Eat the World. In true Hobbit style they wander on foot looking for adventure... and food. Hopkins says they're definitely coming to New Zealand to experience hangi food. Wait, hobbits eating and enjoying food? When did that become a thing?

Between Covid and folks always on new jobs, I'm sure it's hard for them to find overlap to see each other in bigger groups outside of the conventions. I see pictures of the LA folks now and then at dinner, but beyond that I'm sure it's very difficult to organize anything.
