Cate Blanchett is giving up acting. Can't Post

“My family roll their eyes every time I say it, but I mean it. I am serious about giving up acting … [There are] a lot of things I want to do with my life”.

Thank you our favourite Elf queen for everything you've given to Middle-earth!

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Wow... She's a wonder... [In reply to] Can't Post

I just watched a 30-min biographic show about her last night called "Close Up" that looks at various popular actors, directors and producers. Every director and actor sang her praises... especially Steven Spielberg for Indy Jones Crystal Skull saying she's the most talented person he's ever worked with. I wonder if it's stage and film or just film? Time will tell.

I'm so impressed that she'd choose life over career. Her devotion to her marriage and children was paramount.

Thanks for the heads-up! Wow!

She may [In reply to] Can't Post

go into the West and remain Galadriel, but she won't diminish. Bless her.

Well said! // [In reply to] Can't Post

Happiness: money matters, but less than we think and not in the way that we think. Family is important and so are friends, while envy is toxic -- and so is excessive thinking. Beaches are optional. Trust is not. Neither is gratitude. - The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner as summarized by Lily Fairbairn. And a bit of the Hobbit reading thrown in never hurts. - NottaSackville

Maybe she had a checklist [In reply to] Can't Post

Musing over her career, Cate realized her bucket list was checked off:

In place of Brad Pitt you will set up a Queen.
>> Check

And I shall not be dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night!
>> Yep

Fair as the Sea and the Sun and the Snow upon the Mountain!
>> Obviously

Dreadful as the Storm and the Lightning!
>> Just watch her as Hella in Thor: Ragnarok

Stronger than the foundations of the earth.
>> Ask producers about her contract negotiations

All shall love me and despair!’
>> Duh

Who needs that shabby little ring when you got everything you want? Reject it, toss it in the trash.
