Season 2 casting is shaping up! Interesting news coming out of Variety today including the re-casting of Adar. Not sure what to make of this. Excited to see what's next.

I'm hoping that the fair haired lady will be Celebrian. She looks alot like Galadriel and is so pretty! I'm bummed about Adar, he was a cool villain and Joseph Mawle is a good actor and was great as Adar! But so far, I'm looking forward to more news concerning this over the next two years!

Jason Mawle became my favourite part of ROP - his acting was captivating. Why on earth replace him?
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." It sounds like his character is going to die early on - probably in the first episode. I doubt they're recasting a major role. Who knows though.

Since there was alot of bad blood referenced when Halbrand/Sauron had pinned down after the chase between Galadriel, Adar and Sauron. But it still seems a shame to kill him off already. Especially with how important it seemed to build up the tainted side to the Southlands when Waldreg and the other men joined Adar. And it seemed that Adar's storyline was a little different direction of the Sauron storyline even though they made you think they were the same thing in the beginning. At least that's what I thought they were leading up to.

GABRIEL AKUWUDIKE I'm guessing Anárion, if only because none of the other new cast members here fit the part.
YASEN ‘ZATES’ ATOUR Yasen Atour might be a Southron from Far Harad, perhaps one of the Men chosen to become a Nazgûl.
BEN DANIELS Ben could be the show's Celeborn (assuming Galadriel's husband is introduced in Season 2). Another guess: One of the future Nazgûl, maybe a Númenórean lord.
SAM HAZELDINE This one we know. Sam is replacing Joseph Mawle in the role of Adar. I'm sure he'll be fine though Joseph Mawle will be missed!
AMELIA KENWORTHY I'm almost certain that Amelia will play Celebrían.
NIA TOWLE Not a clue here. Maybe a Númenórean girl?
NICHOLAS WOODESON I'm guessing that Nicholas will be Círdan the Shipwright, Lord of the Grey Havens, who we know is alleged to enter the show in the new season.

Other than a line I remember from one of the films, "The orcs were elves once...", the character of Adar is the first in film to suggest and explain why we should feel more than knee-jerk fear and disgust at the existence of orcs. They were callously created and callously sent by their masters to slaughter and be slaughtered. The nudge toward some sympathy for them felt uncomfortable at first, but Mawle convinced me. He was one I was definitely looking forward to seeing again. Oh, phooey. But you go, Mr. Hazeldine! Don't pay any attention to us "fans". (A gentle reminder to myself about giving the new guys a chance: Patrick Stewart and his crew of the Enterprise. )

If you haven't already, check out Neil Gaiman's SANDMAN on Netflix - Hazeldine plays a small role in a short arc midway through the season but its terrifying and he's great.

Agreed on Nicholas Woodeson. He looks like a great fit for Círdan, who I think is described as so ancient, he actually shows a bit of age. As for the rest, they should recast and soft reboot the entire show along with the showrunners and writers, especially Elrond, Celebrimbor, and Galadriel in that order..

If there is tension or a volatile person or disruptive cast member it can hurt the overall effort. Some productions find ways for such actors to work by isolating them but sometimes the cast and crew give up trying to work with them. Disappointed to see him leave. Sorry for bumping in in medias res. Asking since I find it interesting that we should be privy to such level of transparency compared to some other crew members who may or may not have been let go.

How do we know he was let go because of his behaviour/method? Because it was posted in this thread that "another site indicated from sources" without actually citing the source that got their info "from [other] sources." Once it's in print, it's a fact. Your job is to now pass it on to ten more sites. "The internet is always right."

Losing Mawle is awful for the show

Not only did he out-act pretty much everyone else on the show and create a genuinely interesting character, but this sets a very worrying precedent: a respected and experienced character actor leaving the most expensive show in history is not a good sign. This show is in trouble - it did not have a strong cast before and I do not think this will make top class performers rush to join it, I fear.

After all, Jackson 'let go' Stuart Townsend (original Aragorn) and Rob Kazincky (Fili) from his movies. At least Mawle got the chance to be seen on screen.

I don't recall him actually being replaced for cause but rather some issue came up. Looks like he had Pacific Rim the year after 2013 and Red Tails the same year (2012) https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2059117/

and we are going back a few years, it had the same vibe of the Townsend shift: an official non-judgemental reason followed by underground commentary speculating on the 'real' reason. (Although Townsend made comments afterward that indicated he felt hard-done by Jackson, whereas Kazinsky didn't said a word.) In the end, no-one other than PJ and the actors truly know why they were replaced.

Nah, the show is just fine. Stuff like this happens and productions deal with it. They weren't afraid to kill one of their biggest names, Lenny Henry. And it's possible Adar wasn't going to last beyond season 2 anyway. The cast of RoP is solid with no weak link and a few standout performances by Mawle or Arthur (and two or three more). Once Clark is able to show more range as her character evolves, I trust she will be great.

I'm surprised no one is yet discussing the additional eight (8) cast members that were announced yesterday (December 7).
