Defintely a food theme going on here [In reply to] Can't Post

Which is fine with me!

I don't think I've ever tried to grow a tomato bush from a seed from a tomato I've harvested. Good luck with it! Sounds like you know what you're doing (as long as you can find that towel) LaughLaugh

What a great gathering you have planned. Enjoy it!!

Ah, downtown Philadelphia [In reply to] Can't Post

Been there, done that. Sorry you didn't have time to stay longer. It's amazing to stroll through Independence Hall. Such a plain and unassuming place on the inside, but so much history. And the Liberty Bell! *And* philly cheesesteak sandwiches!

If you drive next time, *please* be sure to have a gps system in the car or on your phone that can get you out of there and back to the highway safely. Some of the neighborhoods around that area are NOT ones you want to get lost in. I should know, because I got lost there long before gps was a thing.

When my brother and s.i.l. lived in Delaware I borrowed s.i.l.s mothers ancient Buick sedan and headed that way. After visiting the historic area, I could *see* the raised highway a few blocks away but I couldn't find a cross-street that had an on-ramp. I ended up creeping down narrow streets with burned-out cars parked along the curbs in front of run-down row houses and tiny shops. Worst of all, when I pulled over to open up a map on the steering wheel, the horn went off and wouldn't shut off! I kid you not! When this dude approached the car and motioned me to roll down the window was convinced I was going to be mugged, have the car stolen, or worse. Frown

Luckily for me, he was extremely amused and very sympathetic. He helped me stop the horn and gave me directions to get out of there by the quickest route possible He was literally an angel in disguise.

However, I highly recommend relying on GPS instead of meeting a random angel. Erm, enjoy your next trip to downtown Philly! Angelic

Happy Thanksgiving! [In reply to] Can't Post

No wonder you were scouting out a good pumpkin pie recipe. I'll take it on your good advisement (and dernwyn's) and try it. There's enough time to do a practice pie (or two Angelic) before our Thanksgiving

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and the leftovers!

Best of luck! [In reply to] Can't Post

Understandably nerve-wracking, but since the first one went so well, it should give you confidence that you'll sail through this one!

Oooh, duck again. Do you buy it 'fresh' when you decide to have it or does Mr. Kimi hunt as well as chop wood?

Happy rest of your weekend! Heart

Lol! Yes, it's deja vu all over again [In reply to] Can't Post

Nice to see you here for Fiesta DGH!

Yes, this board (as well as most of the others) moves a bit slower than the RoP board. Yet, we still gather in friendship and fellowship each week to share our stories and learn about what's going on in each others' corner of Middle-earth. Hope to see you here next Friday (or was that last Friday, or the Friday before that) WinkSmile

Runrig played their farewell concert in 2018 - [In reply to] Can't Post

I have it on dvd, it was a very moving occasion. They'd been going since 1973, so they did well. Yes, the tomato seeds are clearly labelled!

Just pick a really ripe but not rotten tomato [In reply to] Can't Post

and squeeze the innards onto a piece of kitchen towel - spread out and leave to dry thoroughly. It's worked for me once before and should work for any tomato as long as it's not an F1 hybrid (which are sterile).

yes and yes [In reply to] Can't Post

The only boxes left are more or less permanent storage, like art supplies & Christmas stuff. I need to get a couple more dedicated storage containers so nothing is in a cardboard box, although my garage, where all this is, is heated and everything's up on racks. (Yes I am a Capricorn & compulsively organized.)

I found a gorgeous loveseat at Goodwill (where I went to see if I could find a nice spice rack) for $65. Has a rich brocade upholstery in shades of brown, gold, green, and mauve (perfect match for my comfy chair I've had forever), and nothing was wrong except the bottom lining was partially detached. I have one of those industrial staplers where you just whack it against whatever, so I had it all neatly tucked back up in no time.

One dog, but she's a 90-pound Dobie who has been testing my 105-pound friend on the "no pulling on the leash" rule. After a week she's accepted that rules are rules no matter who's on the other end of the leash. Otherwise a very sweet doggie. I had a half-Dobie, 1/4 shepherd, 1/4 wolf in college who was also very sweet (and the smartest dog I've ever had, which is saying something). Dobies, like shepherds and Rottweilers, get a bad rap. Although the rabbits on the property might not agree; she's a pretty relentless hunter.

lately yes [In reply to] Can't Post

when there's something new to discuss (like RoP) this board gets a bit neglected. But stick around, have a nosh, take a look at the "What are you reading?" and "What are you watching?" threads - I have gotten many a good tip over the years that's led to books or movies I probably never would have read or seen, left to my own devices, from people here. And feel free to start your own thread on whatever topic you want (as long as it's not political or religious) - this is Off Topic where anything goes.

In fact, I am inspired to start a new "pants" thread . . .

Thanks! [In reply to] Can't Post

That'd be great! I'm at 5 or 6 apartments in the last 6 or 7 years, I think. It gets tiring after a point. Pirate

And glad to hear you're in the fun stage of moving! Hope you find the right place for everything.

Serendipity! [In reply to] Can't Post

That loveseat was there waiting for you! Cool Did you find a spice rack?

Dobies and other big, lean dogs' tough looks can belie gentle natures! I've come across chihuahuas and poodles that are mean and nasty. Tongue

And there's plenty of rabbits around, anyway. Evil

chihuahuas and one toy poodle!

Ended up ordering a spice rack online. I didn't want one that came already stocked with spices, which is all I could find at the box stores.

When I was a temporary mail carrier [In reply to] Can't Post

(no jokes about a female carrier, please)

I was bitten once by a St. Bernard and once by a German Shepard.
The regular carriers, all men, said the little yappy dogs were the ones to watch out for and would wear two pants of slacks to avoid breakthrough bites.
