Happy Fiesta Friday, everyone! Can't Post

Greetings, TORnsibs! How are you doing this fine Friday?

Of course, Easter is this weekend. Will any bunnies be visiting your house? Do you dye eggs? Our routine varies each year depending on whether we're seriously dieting or not. This year we won't be getting any chocolate eggs or bunnies, sad to say. We do have a real bunny that lives under our front porch if that counts. LaughLaugh

Do let us know how you fared this week and what plans you have for the weekend! The buffet is stocked with Easter goodies including ham, salads, and of course, lots of chocolate (yay for virtual chocolate!), and we always have your favorite libation at the Fiesta bar.

*puts quarters on juke box* play us something happy and fun!

Happiest and funnest of weekends, everyone! SmileHeartCool

*watches for bunnies* [In reply to] Can't Post

A bunny under your porch! Do you often see him munching on your lawn? We have at least one living in our rhododendron hedge, and unfortunately he loves to nibble on any flowers I plant by our front steps. Tongue But he's so cute!

Could I have an iced mocha, please, Altaira? I'll take a couple of these deviled eggs, thank you! I do have a small amount of sweets to put out on Easter, jelly-beans, little chocolate bunnies, and Peeps of course!

It's in the 60's/20 C's here this weekend, so it's time to open the windows and clean out the winter debris from the sills. Ah, fresh breeze!

How was your trip last weekend? It must have been gorgeous up in the mountains!

not celebrating [In reply to] Can't Post

as I'm not of that persuasion, and no kids to do eggs with. But I will probably have chocolate!

Today I'm going to the Tulip Festival Street Fair in town with my friends, and then hit the annual Salmon Bake with salmon fresh off a local boat, nom nom.

This weekend I don't have much planned. I've hit a phase with my book where things are flowing so I'm going to keep at it. Also, it's supposed to rain tomorrow. We had snow two days ago. A friend was lamenting that all she wants to do is go to the cute town on the water near us and SIT ON THE DECK for lunch in the sun. We have promised to take her as soon as possible. Looking at the forecast, it won't be next week.

On the other hand, our mountain snowpack has finally come up to about 100% of normal levels for April, and we might get some more before the end of the month. This is good news for farmers and firefighters alike.

Bunny Hop! [In reply to] Can't Post

Some good exercise there, for sure!

Our temps are going to be about the same here this weekend, so our windows will be open too! It's been too windy to open windows lately. I can't remember the last time we had such strong winds consistently, day after day, in the Spring. Thankfully, it's calm today.

I'd call it more of a 'drive' than a 'trip.' We drove to Idaho Springs up I-70, had lunch, then over 'Oh my God' road to Central City. It's a mostly dirt road that rises steeply out of town, passes some old mining ruins, and has some hairpin turns, but isn't really dangerous or anything, and the views are wonderful (example below - not my pic). So yes, it was very relaxing.

Have a wonderful weekend! Heart

Salmon bake? [In reply to] Can't Post

With fresh local salmon? I want to come along! Laugh Are you thinking of getting some tulips for the apartment?

You've been getting a lot of wet weather recently, but that's good news about the snow pack! And that must be an energizing feeling, when you're on a roll with the writing. How's the floofy sofa working out?

Great plans! [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't know what makes me more jealous, your salmon bake (with only the freshest of fresh salmon, I bet), or dernwyn's lobster fests. Laugh Maybe our fall peach festival with fresh, juicy peaches from the western slope?

We had the perfect snow yesterday. In the morning the mountains were socked in with clouds so you couldn't see them, then sure enough, the clouds dissipated in the afternoon to reveal snowy-white mountain peaks. I hear you about the snow pack!

Have lovely, productive, and *dry* weekend indoors writing away! Smile

I just looked it up on Google Maps, and - whoa, yes, those are hair-raising hairpin turns! Laugh What relaxing views, though, just beautiful.

And may your weekend not be too "taxing"! Wink

Happy Holiday :D oooo... I'll grab some eggnog!

I'm taking it easy on the sweets myself this year, but there's always room for Peep Pics! I haul out my Riddles in the Dark peeps diorama I entered at my library workplace years ago and put it out for fun.

We have no plans, so I'm actually looking forward to a quiet weekend and hope to see the sunrise on Sunday. The weather has not been very promising for clear skies anytime soon.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend! Thanks for taking such great care of us Altaira :D

Bunnies in the yard... poor Pickle [In reply to] Can't Post

He wants to chase them SO MUCH! They like to eat the birdseed that's collected on the ground. Never knew they liked that stuff... but puppy goes nuts as the cottontails just sit there are look at him as he goes nuts!

We're sitting on 45 degree temps all weekend with high winds, so my plans to clean up the yard looks iffy.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend :D Doesn't carrot cake sound good? *licks chops*

Carrot cake! I did finally finish all of my yummy big slice from last week. The restaurant has a lady who makes all the pies and cakes herself, so we know it's the best! (If you ever make it out this way, it'll be my treat!)

Buns and bunnies [In reply to] Can't Post

We often see bunnies here, but they're making themselves scarce this weekend - busy out hiding eggs, perhaps.

I made hot cross buns yesterday (Good Friday for us), and I must say they were very nice. Rather filling, though. Taking a break from treats today, but tomorrow it'll be my homemade (using homemade chocolate) chocolate eggs: one each with "white" and "yolk", one each with hazelnut filling. Fairly labour-intensive, but very nice.

A quiet week here, with my most noteworthy achievement getting my flu jab. We're still enjoying mild autumn weather, and still working away to keep up with the persimmon crop. Also had a batch of late but most welcome strawberries - a real bonus at this time of year.

Wishing a blessed Easter to those who observe it, and a peaceful weekend to all.

I tried getting my flu jab today [In reply to] Can't Post

but none of the pharmacies had a vaccinator available - some because It's a Saturday and some because it's Easter. I'll just have to pop out during the work week to get it done.

My sister's visiting from Perth and tomorrow it's a family dinner with her and my bro, followed by a cards evening. Can't wait! It's the first social thing I've done since we were told to work from home. Smile

Yes, it can be awkward [In reply to] Can't Post

finding one open! I was at the physio's on Monday, so it suited me to amble down to the pharmacist's afterwards. They're only doing limited hours, but that included the time I was out and about. Definitely worth doing, anyway.

Enjoy your social evening!

*Nic Cage voice* "Put the bunny back in the box." [In reply to] Can't Post

Angelic

A cooler weather week here in LA after a couple of 95+ days recently that were no fun. We're going to a couple of Dodgers games in the next few days, so the weather gods appear to be on our side. There's nothing worse than sitting at a baseball stadium for 3 hours and sweating your butt off (okay, maybe sitting in the rain for 3 hours is worse, lol). On Sunday we'll hangout with some of my girlfriend's family for an Easter lunch or dinner - clearly I'm not in charge of planning the gathering. Cool

I finally have a little mini-trip coming soon (just a long weekend upstate to visit a friend in NorCal), which is much overdue. I'm hoping to book something out east soon too.

Wishing everyone a happy weekend!

Haha - silly me. I blinked at the flu jab posts [In reply to] Can't Post

then remembered, for some of you it's autumn! Duh... I have a shingles vaccination booked for next week; now I've hit 70 it's offered automatically. I've had shingles once and do not care to repeat the experience if it can be avoided. It's a bright sunny Easter weekend here, round about 17C though in the south-east it'll be warmer. The tulips I planted in pots are in bud, taking over from the hyacinths and narcissi - I'm looking forward to those, with happy memories of my visit to Keukenhof gardens in Holland some years ago. I've prepared some mini-egg selections for daughter and family, in little ceramic pots that they can keep and use afterwards. I snacked on any mini-eggs that weren't in multiples of 4 so I've had my Easter treat already! Also, I've polished off a surprisingly tasty little slab of simnel cake from a local supermarket, so I'd better steer clear of the virtual munchies at the bar. Cheers, folks!

Those are fancy chocolate eggs [In reply to] Can't Post

I can imagine how time-consuming they are to make! What do you use for the "white" and "yolk"?

I haven't made hot cross buns in years. Do you use currants in yours, or mixed dried fruits?

Your strawberries are still producing, that's amazing!

And good that you got your flu shot, that's become a yearly necessity when the fall weather rolls around.

A very happy Easter to you!

You couldn't very well put a spare chocolate egg or two in a pot, that would be most unfair to the others! Laugh

I haven't seen simnel cake at our local grocer's, lots of hot cross buns instead. How does it compare with Christmas fruit cake?

Congrats on getting the shingles vac! I had a two-part vac done a couple of years ago. Friends have had shingles, my sympathies to you, it's not at all pleasant to go through.

Hurrah for the tulips! I'll be getting a couple of pots tomorrow. I've learned to never plant them outdoors here, the deer and bunny find them tasty!
