I'm on the third episode and I can barely stand it. Carnival Row had better pacing. I thought for sure every episode of WoT was over an hour long. Turns out, it's half that. They are so dull, and the characters are all obnoxious except Lan. The set design might be great, but costuming looks like its from an American Eagle reject pile. I hope the LotR show is better than this.

I find the landscape in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Croatia to be stunning. [In reply to] Can't Post

I think after these difficult introductory episodes it will pick up.

as someone who has never read the books [In reply to] Can't Post

I've watched two episodes and am not hooked. Can't help noticing all the parallels with LOTR (Moraine = Gandalf, Lan = Aragorn, trollocs = orcs, taking the ferry across the river to get away from the Eyeless/Black Riders, etc.)

I am a dreamer of words, of written words.

Did you notice the "Mountains of Mist" they mentioned?

Anyway, the shows are diverging so much from the books now and the characters are getting stupider (the ferryman thinking he can get his son for instance). The Witcher and Carnival Row seem like existential meditations compared to this show.
