Walk to Rivendell... and Beyond! September 16

Greetings Fellow Walkers! I hope this fine mid-September day finds you in good health, good adventures, good spaces. And absolutely making good strides on your mileage :) The best thing about September is it's fair weather (for the most part) in both North and South Hemispheres. The trees in my area are starting to turn colours, and the trees in NZ are starting to wake up after their long winter sleep. The Canadian geese are on the move, the grass is growing slower, and the farm fields around me are about ready to be harvested. It's my favourite time of the year :) How are you coming along on your Quest? Are you finding more freedom of choices with better weather? What's your favourite way of gathering mileage? Yard work? Walking? Bird watching? *gag* cleaning? *urp* I don't mind cleaning at all once it's done. It's the "getting around to it" that's hard. I'm an AWESOME cleaner... I'm told. So tell us how you're doing and what's your goal? I'm still walking with the Fellowship after leaving Rivendell and have just escaped Caradhras only to find ourselves confronted with Wargs. Geez! This has not been a very fun trip! Take care, one and all... and I'll see you on the Road!!! *waves fondly* =-=-=--==--=-==-=--=- A note so I'll remember: Can you believe I never tallied up my mileage of all my walks? Following the Walk to Rivendell / Fonstad charts, I started my first walk on 3/18/03 and am still on the Road. I'm on my 4th LotR Walk and did The Hobbit walk 3 times for a total (so far) of 24,276 miles! I made some charts for the incomplete parts of each Quest that I've included in that total. Like... The Hobbit starts at Bag End and stops at the Lonely Mountain. It doesn't have charts for Bilbo's walk back to Bag End. I also made a chart for Bag End to the Grey Havens.

Greetings Fellow Walkers! I hope all is well with you and your world and that you're having fun on your Quest :) Here in the Northern Hemi, we've officially entered Fall... which means our sibbies in the Southern Hemi finally have Winter in their rear-view mirrors and are watching the trees and flowers waking from their long sleep. Either way your see it, there's lots to do outside to prepare for the oncoming weather changes. Out in my yard, I've been doing a lot of mileage-building cutting down and cutting up some troublesome trees (always makes me sad), mowing by my small mower due to Lobelia's (riding mower) affliction. It seems she picked up some bailing twine (I live in farm country) that wrapped tightly around one of the 2 mower blades and burned out the bearing. She smoked like she had a barrel of Old Toby under her hood. It takes about 3-4 hrs to mow my acre by hand and about 1.5 hrs with Lobelia... so I definitely noticed her absence! BUT I do appreciate the great workout and mileage mowing by hand. So what have you been up to that's building up your mileage? There are so many ways to accumulate those miles that just doing your daily routine will give you some surprising stats. So let us know how you're doing and what your goal is... if you have one. My goal is just to keep going :D Meanwhile, back in Middle-earth, the remaining Fellowship and I have made it through Moria and are stumbling along blindfolded as guests of the Elves of Lorien. I don't blame them for being careful, but walking through the woods and hearing critters and soft speaking of a language I don't know cis unnerving. It helps lots knowing that Aragorn and Legolas are very trusting of this group and their demands... so I'll just go along and hope there's food, warmth and rest at the end of this. Take care... and I'll see you on the Road!!!! :D *waves fondly*

Greetings Fellow Walkers! I hope you're doing great and having very satisfying progress on your Quest. We're well into a new season (Fall/Spring) when we're enjoying watching the changes. What sort of activity are you doing to accumulate mileage for your journey? Are you working outside? Inside? Inside-Out? Sometimes my days feel a bit like the latter ;) How are you coming along? My mileage is working in clearing/cleaning *urp* my garage... which keeps getting usurped by helping my daughter consolidating her 3 storage sheds down to 2. She and her 2 sons are having WAY too much fun stopping to revisit and revel in each of the long-hidden items from their past life when the boys were young. But it's PLOW time as the cold days are moving in! It really has been fun seeing what a difference we're making as we make several runs to the Salvation Army and Goodwill with old toys, clothes, household goods, and furniture. Meanwhile in Middle-earth... The remaining Fellowship and I are still being escorted by Haldir through Lothlorien to come before Galadriel and Celeborn, but we've had the blindfolds removed in time to be enveloped by the wonders and beauty of the realm. *waves fondly* I hope your have a great journey and stay safe as you go. I'll see you on the Road :D

Remember what it was like, cleaning out our parents' houses? All the little things that brought back memories! I'm glad that they're "passing along" the old treasures. And just think of all the exercising you're doing...as long as the sons do the heavier stuff!
