I've done pretty well so far at compartmentalizing all of the nasty stuff. Not burying it and letting it fester, but moving forward. For sure, will try to get some decent photos when I go in a couple of weeks!

I had to keep the receipt for that one. I'll laugh about it all someday. :) Thanks! Oh wow that sounds like a nice smoothie. Our air has been very good since the lockdown began--so many older folks here kept saying "it looks just like it did here in the 80's!". So much firework smoke. I could smell it for a couple of days afterward. Sounds like you missed the worst of it!

Good advice indeed. I'm halfway through a first draft of a script I'm writing. I often wonder "is *this* what I want this thing to be...?" But I remind myself that no one would finish writing anything if they let that question overtake their ability to push ahead in spite of those fleeting doubts.

T'is fully summer here in my world, fersher! Mercy! We finally had some rain yesterday (Friday) and you could hear the farm fields and all growing things drinking deep! The past 10-12 days have been an average of 97 degrees F with very few clouds, so the sun has been baking everything in sight! I was worried that the summer would be like this when we had such a mild, minimal snow Winter and no real Spring rains. Thankfully I finished my chimney refacing except for my neurotic tweeking. I'm trying to get a pic to show you. I'd been playing tag with the sun over the 2 weeks of painting the 676 brown bricks (some had multiple re-paints) working from 7:30 to 11am then 8 to 10pm. I finally rented a 28-ft l adder to reach the top 10(ish) rows of bricks. I'm going to let this all sit for a while as I decide whether or not I'm "done", then I'll seal the whole thing so the mortar additive I used as paint (absorbs into the brick) won't fade/wear away with the weather. So... I'm inside cleaning *urp*. A cold glass of pink lemonade would really help my torture, dernwyn. And maybe an oatmeal cookie is laying around? It's a wonderful flavour combination :D Thanks for taking care of us, m'dear... and I hope you have a great weekend in your stormy weather! Fun to watch if you don't have to cleanup after it and deal with flooding ;) *waves fondly to all* Good Days Everyone!

When so many of your family are of an age that their ailments and limitations become a big part of their lives, it's hard to "be there" when distance and your own situations makes it impossible. My daughter has the same dilemma. She wants to "be there" for me here in Michigan and for her dad in Indiana, but it's impossible when she lives in Baltimore and works full time. It's completely understood you want to be supportive and will do all you can, but the reality of logistics and situations are unavoidable. To hear of your great progress in your writing and now being part of an organized group of writers is wonderful! *high five* Hang in there and wishes of MUCH SUCCESS and satisfaction :D

There's no rule you have to follow. You could shelve what you've got going so far and start on the fictional slant. Then tie the original RL work in later as a followup when interest will be greater because of your more fictional outlook. I guess my attitude is if you're suffering and not feeling the flow and freedom I believe writers need to be truly creative, you're being stifled and will never be totally satisfied with the outcome. Your original work has set you on the right path, but your gut is telling you to go somewhere else. THERE... my 2 cents on something I have no authority to express and no clue of how it works; but I apply this philosophy in everything I do. The days are too short, so use them wisely and with inspired satisfaction ;) I hope your great weather sticks around. Those hot, dry summers you've had before don't belong in the NW. Have a great weekend and week! :D

You don't realize how much stress you're under until your out from under it ;) But I think you had a HUGE understanding of the stress that was being dumped on you for too long. Now you can move forward and find a much healthier and satisfying job. Isn't it unfair that now that you have the time to go on some adventures, the limitations of the virus get in the way? It's a nasty tease, fersher. Hang in there, though! I think a trek into the wild is the perfect goal and reward for your perseverance :) Have a great week!!!

Little Midgey has the right idea ;) My pup does the same thing. *looks down at beanbag next to me* Yep, there he is nestled in his beanbag chair covered with a flimsy blanket... in 90 degree F weather! I hope you two have a great walk and can relax during the rest of your break from school... and all the craziness of the past several months!

Do you like that oatmeal cookie with raisins, or chocolate chips, or walnuts...or all three? I know the Midwest can get hot, but that's terribly hot and dry, not good at all for the gardens! That storm missed us, except for a short bit of rain and enough wind to shake dry twigs from the trees. I'd been hoping for more rain from it. How's the corn out there? Our farmstand has its "first fruits" out now, so I'll be cooking up "golden honey" corn for lunch today. Do you have "before" and "after" pics of the bricks? It would be interesting to see what a change you've made! 28-ft ladder? Oh gosh, you're brave, gramma! Do give yourself some time to relax this weekend, gramma - and stay cool!

Oatmeal cookies with raisins (not too many!) is good, but plain is great :D THANKS! The fields around here are suffering. The corn is about half the distance it should be. We have a saying to judge its progress: The corn's as high as an elephant's eye on the 4th of July. It's about up to their chest. I love, love, love sweet corn on the cob! *slaver, slurp* Here are the links to my before and after pics. I've been having the WORSE time with photobucket. They keep making changes that interfere with my links. Even new ones like this. So I've been waiting for their "tech" support to figure out what's going on. So aggravating! But I have too many pics to move to another host. Let's see if you can get at it: chimney refacing https://oimg.photobucket.com/albums/v434/grammaboodawg/Fireplace/chimney%20before%207-28-18%20%20after%207-10-20_zpsopylmtdw.jpg chimney refacing https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v434/grammaboodawg/Fireplace/chimney%20before%207-28-18%20%20after%207-10-20_zpsopylmtdw.jpg

I'd love to see your patchwork! What a great project! But you're like me... some of our projects don't have a lot of movement to them. Mostly sitting. The weight gain happens to me every time, and it's nasty hard to lose it again. I hope your struggle doesn't take too long. It's not a vanity thing, it's a health thing. If we gain each year and can't lose it, pretty soon we're in real trouble. HANG IN THERE! Oh, I hope you don't have another lockdown. It looks like we're going to have to go back to square one and start all over again. We all need to get on the same page and follow the same plan. This hit-or-miss individual approach just doesn't work. Congratulations on your project achievement :D Do you have another project waiting for you? DO TELL! And have a great week!

The first says "photo not found", and the second "image is currently unavailable". I've got an awful suggestion for an "indoor" project: yes, signing up on some other photo-sharing site and copying (not transferring) your photos over! Photobucket has become very unfriendly in the past few years, and I know others here have gone elsewhere. In the meantime...what I use is the {inline} function here: re-sizing an image to a maximum of 525 pixels wide by 400 pixels high (or other combination where width times height is less than 210,000 pixels), and size less than 45 K, then uploading it, and using {Inline mypic.jpg} for it to show up in the post. (I've found that the photo's name can't have spaces in it.) (Replacing the { and } with [ and ], of course!) *gets napkin, places huge oatmeal cookie on it* Careful, it's fresh out of the oven back here! Need a refill on that lemonade?

7/28/18 --------- 7/11/20 It worked!!! A little blurry, but LOOKIE! :D You are a genius dernwyn. I know you've noted this before over the years, but I never really tried sorting through it because I thought I was all set. The only part that tripped me up was "and using {Inline mypic.jpg} for it to show up in the post." My d'uh moment was realizing I needed to use the little pic icon in this text box tool bar and typing it in... then picking/checking the pic I just loaded. BOOM! It popped right up! :D Thank you!! When the bricks were laid, he put a lot more of the whiter bricks towards the top making the balance a bit lopsided. So some of the white bricks near the top I made darker, and some of the dark bricks near the middle/bottom I made whiter. The 2nd pic will look more faded because it is ;) I painted the bricks lighter a'purpose.

YES! You did it! You posted the pics! Excellent, gramma! Amazing what a difference the coating makes. Before, there was a lot of contrast; the coating "softens" the brick. And it looks better with less of the white! Lovely job!

Even if it weren't for the pandemic, I'd be staying inside with the air conditioning on. 2020 is nothing like I expected. Texas reopened too fast and now has skyrocketing COVID-19 cases. We had to cancel our annual trip north to Ohio because granddaughter #2 caught the coronavirus at work and her whole family is quarantined. On the bright side, I'm learning how to Zoom and attend virtual meetings -- even doctor appts -- rather well. I bought a cute T-shirt that says "Social Distancing with my Cats" showing them in correct color and names. Hope all other TORnsibs' summer/winter is going betting,ElanorTX

My chimney is just a boring little thing sticking out of the roof. I'm now going to attempt to post a pic of my own, of the patchwork project I just finished, after receiving detailed instructions from gramma and additional hints from dernwyn. Let's see what happens... Ooh! It worked! Thank you, both! Well, kind of. There is distortion on it that happened during the resizing and I can't understand why. May as well post the others I did too, otherwise you'll never get to see them. One isn't distorted, the others are. I'm flummoxed! Here goes... The top one is the only thing I've ever had professionally long-arm quilted. I love it but it's too expensive to make a habit of it. The next one was a throw I made for a friend's Ruby Wedding. Third are the pesky fiddly flowers I just finished and fourth is a throw in a straightforward design that's great for using up all sorts of oddments. Sorry about the quality!

Oh GH! These are great! I hear you on struggling with the pics' distortion/blurriness... I have the same problem. But we're newbies and we'll get it worked out :D But these are really beautiful! I've always been intimidated with quilting, but love them. And yours are top notch! The quality of the pics have not detracted to showing how lovely these are. Truly... I'm so glad you posted these. You've also got that quilting bug biting me again! Now to get a sewing machine and see how much damage I can do :D Thank you for this. I've been smiling ear-to-ear the whole time!

I'm so sorry to hear your daughter and her family have gotten sick with the virus. It was fortunate that discovered it before you came there, but I can imagine all of you being very disappointed. I've seen on the news that Texas is getting overwhelmed... and Ohio is getting slammed, too. It's like walking a minefield. I love the shirt, though :D Hang in there... and please stay safe! *hugs*
