Andy Serkis to read "The Hobbit", live, starting Friday! Can't Post

The BBC article is here: https://www.bbc.com/...inment-arts-52568497

And here's his GoFundMe page, with more details: https://www.gofundme.com/...itathoncovid19appeal

He's using this "Hobbitathon" (with breaks for the loo) to raise funds for NHS charities.

Is anyone planning to listen to all or part of this?

A corrupt character!? [In reply to] Can't Post

AWESOME! I'm definitely going to do my best to be there! How exciting :D I was just telling someone today I wish Ian McKellen would read LotR and Hobbit for Books on CD; but Andy will do just fine! He'll probably need some of his "gollum juice" by the time he gets to the end of it :D

Thanks for the heads up! HOW COOL!!!

RATS! Now if he'd put this into a dvd OR cd and sell with profits going to the fundraiser... I'd be there like a shot! *whimper*

Inside Information [In reply to] Can't Post

5:00+ a.m. Sat, NZ time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QOF_r_Y5-A
I woke up (way too early) and checked the link, and Andy is now at "Inside Information". Smaug is really p o'd and the company are trapped inside the mountain! Not conducive to going back to sleep. Shocked The Arkenstone! "Now I am a burglar at least!" His torch... went out.
Shoot! How's anyone supposed to sleep through this! Shocked
Laugh

Bravo Mr. Serkis!!!!! [In reply to] Can't Post

Wow!!!
I set my alarm for just before 5am NYC time and watched the first three hours, then sporadically while working and then gave in and viewed until the end, cheering at the final sentence!! So I saw most of it and it sure didn’t feel like twelve hours. Goose bumps during Riddles in the Dark!!! Wow!! He had a large statue of Gollum staring at him as he read. And then Bilbo and Smaug!! Andy really pulled this off, and for a great fundraiser for virus aid, to which I contributed what I could. He’s such a great storyteller, watching him act out scenes was amazing. As are many of us, I’ve been going through some rough times and this was a welcome tonic. If I hadn’t visited TORn yesterday I might have missed it!! I hope this can be released on DVD as part of the fundraising efforts, I had to create a new google account to watch but it worked, but for those who couldn’t view it or want to see it again that would be cool. I suppose you’ll find clips on YouTube but it’s the full reading that made this an awesome experience!!

they cut off the YouTube video. Unsure

I too hope it will be made available, maybe for a donation!
