Estrogen Island? Sort of, but with a relevant twist Can't Post

In these trying times, we all need a bit of lightheartedness to lift our spirits. If it so happens that it goes hand-in-hand with a little eye-candy, I say: the more the merrier! Wink

To that end, I present you with New Zealands 40 Most Handsome Men Alive

Not surprisingly, some of our favorite LOTR and Hobbit actors made the list, including:

- Dean O'Gorman (Fili in The Hobbit movies)
- Karl Urban (Eomer in LOTR movies)
- Manu Bennet (Azog in The Hobbit movies)

Other noteworthy entertainment names include:

- Sam Neill (Jurrasic Park, LOTS of other films)
- Cliff Curtis (Once Were Warriors, Fear the Walking Dead, upcoming Avatar movies)
- Taika Waititi (Producer, Writer, Director of many films including What we do in the Shadows, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Thor: Ragnorok)

All of the winners' profiles have pics, and many have tweets and videos with uplifting, positive messages for these times. One of my favorites is Sonny Bill Williams video (handsome rating #28, well-known NZ Rugby player) giving a positive message while his kids climb all over him. I was also delighted to see that Kieren Read, NZ All Blacks Rugby captain (and my fav All Black) is on the list at number 25.

As it turns out, one of the Tolkien movie-related actors snatched the number one slot!! I won't spoil it for you, go to the link, enjoy the pictures and the messages, and see for yourself! Smile

Koru: Maori symbol representing a fern frond as it opens. The koru reaches towards the light, striving for perfection, encouraging new, positive beginnings.

So [In reply to] Can't Post

Ben Boyce and Bill English (?!) have no business whatsoever appearing on such a list.
I hereby replace them immediately with Marlon Williams

and TJ Perenara.

Yesss! Sam Neill's on the list. Pleased to see that. [In reply to] Can't Post

I've been watching a lot of news lately - I wonder why?! - and on the BBC News channel a man called Ros Atkins presents 'Outside Source'. Not my usual type, I have to say, but he's very easy on the eye in a crisp, tidy way.Wink Likewise the weather forecaster Tomasz Schafernaker (I think I got that right?) who is also a wizard at drawing pencil portraits.

Bill English???

Well, that undermines the credibility of the list.

Although it does have Richie McCaw and Dean O'Gorman in the top 10, so it's not all bad... Cool

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

I know! [In reply to] Can't Post

I can't figure out if whoever made the list has absolutely no idea, or if they are actually messing with our heads. Crazy

I follow Sam on Instagram [In reply to] Can't Post

he is a lovely person in every way. He puts up videos of him taking walks with his pig or his goose; he's clearly a total animal person. The other day he played the ukelele and sang (very badly, but who cares) an Al Green song for his fans.

I've never tackled Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp or Zoom - Facebook is about as adventurous as I get.

Instagram is the least adventuresome of all the social media, I find [In reply to] Can't Post

It's just pictures and videos. You can comment, but I haven't run across the kind of debates that people get into on the other media. It feels friendlier.

I finally looked through the list and EXCUSE ME [In reply to] Can't Post

Bret McKenzie is not on it.

So wrong.
