Happy Valentines Day, gramma! [In reply to] Can't Post

*takes chocolate pop* Thank you! May I have a mocha coffee, please? So - have you received any valentines yet? Cool

We've been getting cards from the schoolkids all week (this is Kindness Week), and one teacher's hubby sneaked in very early this morning and decorated the lunch room with all sorts of flowers and banners and take-home knickknacks and chocolates and cookies! It's Hearts Galore here! Laugh

We'll be heading to my mom-in-law's for the long weekend. Heart

Take care from the cold, gramma, you're supposed to be getting quite a chill our your way!

Hey dernwyn! [In reply to] Can't Post

Here's a high-peek mocha for ya :) I got Valentine hugs from my kiddies :D I love it when students do cards!

I hope your Mom-in-law is doing well. I'll bet she's really looking forward to the visit! And I'm ready for the cold blast! It's the first serious winter visit this season and it's a short visit... so I can't complain. Have a great weekend, m'dear!

Heh, thanks, gramma! A bit of Ent-love, there! But whoever made the card should have used, "LEAF it to me..." Angelic

Hubby's brother and his wife are already there, so the five of us will enjoy some relaxing time together. I think we may be doing a lot of gentle reminiscing! Heart

Evening All! It's over thirty years [In reply to] Can't Post

since anyone sent me a Valentine card, but I'm surviving - nay, thriving. Son-in-law is back home tonight after a short trip away for courses related to his new job, so they'll be snuggling down in front of some movie or other, after the boys are in bed. Those choc pops look tasty! Virtual ones contain no calories, which is a definite bonus. I will be treating myself to a couple of glasses of wine later and enjoying a tv series called 'Our Coast' (BBC2 for anyone who can access it) which is covering the Welsh island of Anglesey tonight, where I am going on a short holiday in April; should be fun. Last week's was around Merseyside, which is more local to me and was very interesting. Drone footage has revolutionised all sorts of tv programmes, especially history/archaeology/landscape types. Sometimes they swoop around so much that it makes me feel a little queasy though.

Last weekend we had Storm Ciara, with silly amounts of rain and wind; this week we're being treated to Storm Dennis. Sheesh...!Happy weekend to you all, however you spend it - cheers! Heart

That's so great that you can watch this show that's highlighting the place you're going to visit! I hope your weather will be as good as, I'm sure, it'll be on the show ;) I'm glad your son-in-law is home safe and sound. What a great Valentine Pressie for your daughter :D

I hope you have a fabulous weekend! Stay dry and warm... whichever applies whenever ;)

I have to work tonight, but virtual alcohol is just dandy! My wife liked her Valentine's Day gift (a gaming supplement "Melody of the Waves" for the Tails of Equestria Storytelling Game) and I've already started making plans for her birthday present.

It's 10am and the cicadas are singing. :) [In reply to] Can't Post

It'll be a proper Summer Saturday down here. I popped down to see my brother and SIL yesterday evening (they live, literally, just down the road from me) and we saw the slow night in on the deck with a bit of bubbles to farewell the week. That is what summer is made for.

I plan to do very little today and to do it well. Though I might sneak off to see Birds of Prey tonight as it's getting better reviews than I expected.

Maybe a cheeky mimosa to start the day off right, gramma?

Happy end of the week, everyone!

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Most of the weather was good [In reply to] Can't Post

on the show, but they did show some wet and murky stuff too - I mean, this is Britain! The rain's already hammering on the windows this morning, in advance of Storm Dennis. They showed the lamp room of the South Stack lighthouse, a fine landmark and the subject of countless postcards. I've admired it from the headland, but I don't fancy tackling 400 steps down, then back up again. There will, before long, be another bridge joining it (I mean Anglesey, not South Stack) to the Welsh mainland; the two there already were designed by Stevenson and Telford, two famous engineers, but are not really suitable for the size and length of modern vehicles, especially the big wagons heading for Holyhead and the busy sea route to Ireland. Anglesey was where the Druids made their last stand against the Roman legions almost two thousand years ago, screaming defiance across the Menai Straits - and were wiped out.
Nice try, guys...

Son-in-law's courses have involved advanced First Aid - a very handy skill to have in the family! - climbing, sea survival etc, because he is now working for a company responsible for a lot of the wind turbines off the coast of North Wales. He was working for a large oil refinery before and is glad to be away from such an explosive (and smelly) line of work.

Hi guys! I have a LOT happening.... [In reply to] Can't Post

My usual OJ please! Smile

So.... I’m not going to get into too many specifics just yet (I think that’s a future post), but I discovered this past week that I have a half sister! Shocked

Needless to say, this has been an earthquake of a revelation, and I’m on cloud nine about it. I’ve been an only child all my life, so this is astonishing. She’s absolutely wonderful, and we’re all hopefully going to meet in the near future.

In less world-changing news, I’ve been guests on a Tolkien related YouTube Channel over the past couple weeks. It’s operated by a wonderful Tolkien fan named Helen the Clueless Fangirl. The first week, we talked about The Silmarillion (and our love of Tolkien overall). Then this week, we zeroed in on Beren and Lúthien.

Here’s our chats:

https://youtu.be/8yy_VkViSJE

I’d love it if you guys could check them out! Heart

As an only child myself I can appreciate how amazing that would be. I would have had a sister but she was stillborn when I was 8; I do wonder how things would have been different if she'd lived. Enjoy getting to know this surprise addition to your family!

Never in a million years! [In reply to] Can't Post

Cool

I was thrilled and honored enough when I started guesting on my new friend Steven's YouTube Channel. But then he invited me to be a co-host! And now I'm guesting on another person's channel! And I get to geek out over Tolkien on it?!!! Laugh

It's all so thrilling. I've made like a thousand new friends through all this, and I'm getting to meet them at Ice and Fire Con in April - and then again in July at Con of Thrones. BTW, I'm going to be on probably, at least, 4 panels at Con of Thrones! Me! Blush

All of this would already make 2020 one for the record books. But now, to add onto it, I've gained a sibling in the same year! Heart

BTW, she has a son - so I'm an uncle TOO! Shocked

It's all so insane (in the best way) and wonderful...Smile

Greetings from the lovely South Island! [In reply to] Can't Post

The Mr and I are having a great time, broken foot notwithstanding. Beautiful weather the first few days, and okay weather just now. At the moment we're in a sweet little cottage in the countryside, with a sunny outdoor area that was just the place for our Valentine's Day supper.
