Moot point though it is, saying the longer scene "was to begin with a close-up of Sebastian...." to me as a reader implies directly that the scene was to be longer and focus on Sebastian on Azog's sword. In the end, this didn't happen and instead we are just left with the shorter scene with Sebastian visible only to eagle-eyed viewers. Still Sebastian, just not the longer version of the scene as was initially discussed.
Either way, a longer scene like that would've been pointless so glad they didn't do it.

I have his book, and I have listened to his podcasts, follow him on Twitter, etc. He was there behind the scenes, and has remarked before on other scenes that he saw that were different from what we got in the theatrical cut, and he wasn't always referring to just the music.
It's completely possible that there was music written, but I don't think it was explicitly stated. I suppose it's not very important either way.

That is hard to get my head around - they are a pest here.
I do love them, even though I shouldn't.
They're currently declining, mainly due to land mis-management. Of course, in places where they're introduced and are therefore a pest, like New Zealand, they're doing fine! There's a lot of folklore in Britain/Europe around hedgehogs, so it's good to see them featured in a Tolkien film.
