Find the missing TORnsib! Can't Post

http://www.theonering.net/rumour_mill/rpg/viewer/main/45F2B500000FCD9C.html

Okay... I went into the stats page and made a list of all the TORnsibs listed there from the RumourMill. I assumed that all of those who have posted here would be in that list, but apparently we've got a lot that are MIA

Here is the link to the list from our *sniffle* olde Main Board. Some of the missing names have already been discovered, and I've found a few more.

The Lidless Eye
Solikat
Mirkwood Maiden
Widfara
Woses
Reverend
ringers reprise/ringers rock

I know some have changed their names before we had the major overhaul by many when we moved into our new home, but I'm also looking for original names. I'm going to keep hunting... but if you can see anyone's name that missing, please let me how and we'll get them back where they belong :)

I've attached a link, but just in case... I've stuck it in here, too. Thanks lots!

Bit confused [In reply to] Can't Post

Are you trying to get people to get these individuals to come post, or to do something else?

Because one of those on the list has been banned for quite some time, and two are no longer alive. So they wouldn't be able to post in any event.

Or was there some other reason behind the list you're putting together?

RR, jordan, MM [In reply to] Can't Post

RR stopped being active before I did, so that was a couple years ago, I'd wager. My memory may be faulty but I vaguely recall jordan making appearances around the time I left and I've no idea what's become of MM. With the exception of Widfara and Rev, I don't think I know of the others.

Yes, a "remembrancer", to use Rayner Unwin's term. [In reply to] Can't Post

That was my impression as well. Though perhaps also a reminder of the missing, those who can come back and those who can't.

Pukel-man. Stanislaus Bocian. Atlas. Arquen. galadhremmin. tealbee. Peter Jenkins. El Scrocho. Routh Linin. Kiskadee. JediFonger. IBo. Probably a few thousand in all. [In reply to] Can't Post

I copied your second list, plus the handful of additions suggested in that thread and here, like Hama of Rohan, smallbottle, Ringers Rock! and Mirkwood Maiden, to a spreadsheet for easier sorting. I count 790 names so far, some of them multiple identities for one person (*cough* Carcaroth *cough*). In less than a month, the new boards already have 466 members, so even discounting people who only posted a few times, there are likely thousands of names to collect for the eight-year history of the old boards.

(By the way, several people mentioned in my subject line have registered for the new boards.)

That's my kinda fun. More soon.

Ascarwen, candadanthony, Eric Tracy, notlost, etc. [In reply to] Can't Post

I skimmed through Reading Room threads for Nov. 21, 2004-Feb. 28, 2005 and noted names not on your list (plus a few others that came to mind). Just for that three-month period in that one forum, I found about 160 names. I'm not doing a careful count, but roughly half of those people seem to have posted only once. About half of the remainder posted two or three times, and may yet turn out, on further searching, to have been "regulars" here for a period of time. That leaves these names which definitely should appear on your list:

Alraune, arwen_elessar, Ascarwen, Belegaran, Buckshee, Bythedar, CactusWren, canadanthony, Canto di Númenor, CelebornsMirror, Ceorl, Count Zero, Daeorn Aldalómë, Demosthenes, Elanoria, Eric Tracy, eowynsmyhero, Glaurung the Magnificent, greenearth octobersky, GrimGandalf, gullygilly, houndrock, huorn, irpacynot, I Voted for Mayor Gamgee, Johnny_b, Julie of the pointed ears, kodax, Lothiriel Adaneth, Lothirienne, lucia, Mapalon, matteodoc of the new hamp-shire [aka ents_marching], MIthLuin, notlost, Psycho-Uno, Racerill Tollbride, Ransom, ShireRat77, Spoons Fiddlesticks, Tar-Telperien, Tharangil, Tolkien Servant, Watson, wolfranger, Yaksha

The three I just struck through have already been provided by Wynnie.

Do you also want additional user names for people already listed, like "Karen" for "Aunt Dora Baggins"? Or "Luthien Telperien" (as I think she briefly was) for "Luthien Rising"?

wow - seeing some old names really brings back memories! [In reply to] Can't Post

Julie of the pointed ears; demosthenes; watson; canadanthony; huorn; notlost (of whom I always think when Arwen says, '...but it is not lost!') and many others are names I remember seeing on the old boards lots of times, and I remember replying to lots of their posts, too. Watson I remember always had insightful things to say. What fun to be compiling this list - it's just great to have a kind of TORn 'wall of fame' to remind us of posters who have been here.
