Favourite scenes in BOFA Can't Post

Top 5:

Bilbo nearly "curing" Thorin's sickness when discussing the acorn. I loved that scene.

Bilbo's last words with Gandalf filled me with joy, as they were lifted straight from the book!

Dain's arrival! And I loved the small hint to how they communicated in the book, when the huge black raven landed next to Thorin.

Thorin's dying speech did not let me down.

Smaugs attack.

The greatest adventure is what lies ahead.

Spoilers = mega spoilers [In reply to] Can't Post

1. Bilbo's difficulty to say the word, until he enters the house.
Amazngly done..

2. The end scenes of Thorin. Pfff.. the words and the non-verbal comunication when Bilbo finds out the gift Thorin gave him could have saved Thorin...

3. The fimal moments of Smaug. How he dies. For those who have seen someone or something die.. it is like that. Light goes out in the eyes. Absolutely goosebumbs creating moment.

4. Smaug in the Gold !! Wonder if you saw it. The illusion of the tale when Thorin gets healed

5. They said before the dwarfs played a minor role.. but it is not true. They speak without words, witch is so clever in this movie. There are no words for what they see happening to their king.
Only the brave dare to speak up.. It is best shown when Bilbo returns to thorin and very brave tells Thorin what he did, what he gave away.. and why. Thorin asks the Dwarfs.. commands the Dwarfs to do something and without words.. all is said.

May I add a point 6.
There are several stories in this movie. (like in the others by the way). Clever done.

There is the one of friendship
There is the one of love
There is the one of Sauron and the ring
and even more.

The story of Legolias and his father.
The end is very final. I think there will be a Gandalf/Elrond?/Thrandiel scene in the E.E. in witch the Elf King is told about The King of Gondor. but even if there is not.
You know they will not meet again. The King says goodbye and there is not even a handshake.. no hug. This farewell is final.
And it makes the bond of Legolias and the dwarf in the next movie more understandable. Some say Legolias should not have been in the hobbit movies. i think it is good he was in it.

For in the movies, that are not the book, that follow (and were made so long ago) of the LotR the friendship that grows between Elf and Dwarf are more easy to understand.

oh.. There is.. if I may.. even a 7.

7.
Gandalf and Bilbo after the battle.. The pipe won't light up
Tears again well up behind my eyes.
Again.. no words are said..
Gandalf does not get his pipe to work. He is supposed to be without emotions, but he is not. The old wizzard is as powerles now as the hobbit next to him. No words

and ok.. let's at 8. and 9.

8. is the music.. so well choosen.. Where words are not spoken, the music is .... !!!

9 is the landscapes. .when ever we see them.. they are wow..

and as I almost reached 10.

10. last but not least.
the Dwarfs around Thorin bowing as the sun light is red/orange above the mountains. The last light .... again.. So well done.

No key.. but it was clever done.

Good picks [In reply to] Can't Post

Right now my top 5:

Arrival of Dain.

Dwalin confrinting Thorin.

Bilbo saying goodbye to the Dwarfs. (it was way too brief though)

The acorn scene.

Fili's death. (The reaction of the Dwalin, thorin and Bilbo are heartbreaking)

Oh man (Spoilers obviously) [In reply to] Can't Post

Let's see, I'm probably forgetting some.

Anything inside Erebor basically. It looked stunning. Basically Middle Earth porn Laugh The acting by the dwarves + Bilbo is amazing. Great chemistry amongst the cast.

Anything with Thranduil and Bard. I don't know, I really looked forward to the moments with them and thankfully I wasn't disappointed.

It hurt like no other, but Fili in the tunnels... My chest actually hurt because I knew what would happen, but the close ups of him is just... oh no *sobs* And that pat on Kili's chest before they seperate...

Fili, Kili, Bofur and Oin travelling to Erebor. The landscapes, them entering the dwarrowdelf, Bilbo finding them. Thorin talking to them. Loved all of that.

Thranduil, Bard, Gandalf and Bilbo in the tent.

Thorin and Kili forehead touch then again this all goes back to me loving everything inside Erebor.

Bilbo with dying Thorin. Tauriel with dead Kili (just would have been so much better if she didn't talk Laugh)

Mine [In reply to] Can't Post

1. Thorin/Bilbo and the acorn
2. Bard and Bain killing Smaug ( the music!!)
3. Gandalf and Bilbo's farewell
4. Balin and Bilbo dialogue
5. Bilbo discussing with Gandalf, Thranduil and Bard
6. Dain's arrival
7. Sons of Durin hero moment
8. Sauron and the Nazgul united
9. Thorin and Dwalin
10. The last scene

This movie has much more character moments then those claiming its only battle claim.

We all have our hearts and minds one way or another invested in these books and movies. So we all mind and should show the necessary respect.

I forgot something [In reply to] Can't Post

ha ha.. believe it or not..

there is an 11. !!!

Spoiler !!!!!!!!!!!! of course

When Thranduil goes back to the city... his animal is (unseen, because the camera is under the bridge) cleaning the bridge.. .. in an amazing way..

Than we see it scooping up a lot of Orcs and Thranduil de-heads them.

At that same moment the animal is shot and dies. Thranduil starts to swing his swords and kill some.

i am not sure now, if we see an emotional reaction to the death of his animal. But there is a change in his mood.

thranduil spoilers [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi, I still have to wait one more week, so, I'd really appreciate detailed spoilers about Thranduil in this film. Overall screen time, best moments and fight scenes. Thank you beforehand, and excuse my intensity but I've waited way to much.

More screentime than in DOS, but somewhat less than I expected [In reply to] Can't Post

I think he and Alfrid almost got about same the amount of screentime... who would have guessed that? He has a couple of cool fight scenes on his elk, the orcs shoot his elk down and he fights some more on foot.

The greatest adventure is what lies ahead.

Oh, and, excuse me, another little whim of mine. What does it happen to Braga, the captain of Lake Town. Does he die in battle?

Spoilers [In reply to] Can't Post

SPOILERS
.
.
.

He gets much more screen time than DoS.
As i said before i wish we got to see more of him fighting. He slashes some orcs on his elk and when his elk is shot down he rolls down (dont know what that move is called in english) between the antlers gracefully. He is surrounded by orcs immediately and thranduil starts fighting with his 2 swords. Thats the only time we really get to see him fight on foot i believe. You've probably seen behind the scenes footage of it.

I can tell u more about the what happens between Tauriel and Thranduil but i dont know how much u want to know. I mean do you want to know what happens between them and what we see last of them? Its pretty sad.
