This is starting to get ridicolous.. It's not even 1,5 month left, and we've only gotten a teaser!

...but it's secret. Howewer, here's a small tidbit. There is a relatively unexpected character having an appearance in the trailer.

Thinking about previous hints it sounds like Saruman to me.

I hope it's not Gollum. There's no need to see him in this. 'Relatively unexpected' eh? Does this mean in the sense that it's a character we wouldn't expect to see in a trailer (perhaps because he or she is fairly low-key, or because it might spoil a surprise - Dain or Beorn say), or in the sense that the character being in the film is a surprise? Colour me very intrigued. Perhaps it's Gwaihir? Or, if a surprise, Celeborn (surprise Martin Csokas cameo maybe!). Haldir would be nice but wasn't Craig Parker one of those involved in the NZ Actors' Equity thing? That probably rules him out I would have thought.

Question is: is his part big enough to warrent being in a trailer? I think no. But he is a favourite character so, though his part is small, he might be used to attract audiences rather than reflect his importance in the story. I'd rather his appearance remain a surprise to some, though.

But I can't see Serkis' name here, so no evidence for Gollum. However, not every actor in the film is listed so no hard evidence against. Or am I missing something?

It seems for all intents that Elijah Wood will not appear in the closing bookend scene. All indications point towards this anyway.

If you search for DOS on the same site, you find Elijah Wood, Serkis, Humphries and Holm in the list.
