Idle "Idol" Chatter Can't Post

Heading for the Top 12 this week!

Voting off 2 guys, 2 girls.

Can't we vote off all the guys? Please?

Ha! I was waiting for you [In reply to] Can't Post

to start this week's thread.

Seriously, is there any point in having the guys go on like this weak after weak--er, week after week?
I'd keep Chris Sligh, and Blake (though I'm finding the performance better than the voice...at least he makes an effort to stand out). The rest aren't even playing.
Worst of the night? I'll quote a post on another board: Phil ----O M G . Dude, find a key!
I hated the Guys vs. Girls thing when they first started it, 'cause it's usually unfair to one side...and the viewing public *sigh*.

Yeah [In reply to] Can't Post

I agree. The guys are just boring this year. This is the first season I've actually watched, but I'm terribly unimpressed. I like Chris (he has the best hair) and Blake, too.

Noo! Not Chris Sligh! [In reply to] Can't Post

I thought that was quite good. Not great - and not as good as last week - but fun.

I missed most of my other favorite, Blake, and I'm not fond of reggae (was that reggae?) - but my criteria after having been burned by past Idol folk is that I will eventually buy a contestant's album. I was fond of Ruben, for example, but wouldn't buy his album without finding it on a tag sale table. Ditto for Fantasia (though I don't think I ever voted for her). Blake is risky in this area; he may well do something hip-hop (which gives me hives) or something, but - - I like his voice. I have no idea what he sang tonight, but I liked listening to it.

Of course I agree, though, that half the girls blow all the guys out of the water. I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

Can we please send Sanjaya home now? Please?

Someone waxed the poor kid's eyebrows. [In reply to] Can't Post

He's not going until they grow back!

I guess if I had to choose I would say Chris S. and Blake were okay. The rest were SO bad I really don't see who I could send home.

Unfortunately [In reply to] Can't Post

I think we may be stuck with Sanjaya "Dhani Osmond" (tm TWoP?) until Mom & Dad confiscate the younguns' phones or cancel the service. Cute kid, sweet kid, but not ready for this competition.

I think Blake did 311's 'All Mixed Up' , but only 'cause I read it somewhere. =)

That was not reggae. [In reply to] Can't Post

It was slightly reggae-flavored hiip-hop. I think Blake's got a good voice, but I hate his taste in music. He'll make it to the final 12, though I really don't care if he does.

Should go (if I can pick only 2) — [In reply to] Can't Post

Sanjaya and Jared Cotter.

Chris Sligh is the only one who actually belongs in the final 12, but I still like Sundance (despite a misguided song choice tonigh), and I'll be disappointed if Brandon doesn't make it, especially now that I've heard him play Chopin (I think?).

The judges agreed that only 4 or 3-1/2 should make it — any opinions on who they meant, besides Chris Sligh?

I don't get Brandon. [In reply to] Can't Post

The guy seems to have so much going for him, but he just hasn't been bringing it. I had a brief flicker of hope after hearing him play, but he was just better than last week, nothing special. Very disappointing.

Mom and I wondered if the 4 were: Chris Sligh, Blake, Chris R., and Brandon.
Personally, Chris R.'s nasaly whine grated on my nerves, but they keep going easy on him.

Jared probably will go, but I can only wish for Sanjaya to go.

I don' t understand about Chris R. [In reply to] Can't Post

It's true, they went easy on him. All he really seems to have going for him is likeability and presence. The judges said Blake was through to the finals, so he's surely one of the 4. Maybe Brandon was the 1/2. Or maybe Sundance. I think Brandon's got more potential than he's showing, but if he doesn't show it, I can't be sure. Too bad AJ was voted off last week; he might have had a shot at the finals. I think Sundance has some fans, so he might make it; he's got a lot of talent, but didn't do as well this week as last week, and I couldn't tell whether the judges were pulling for him. I still think he's got serious confidence problems.

It's funny — Paula's really trying to be a more critical listener this season. Cute! I get a kick out of how she tries to criticize without being "mean" — she agonizes so much over how to say what's wrong without it sounding too harsh.

with you on that one! [In reply to] Can't Post

Chris R makes my skin crawl. Maybe he reminds me too much of the stuck up/ bully/ jock sort of guy that really ticked me off back when I was his age (and later when I was teaching). And the way he sang that song... well he seemed more interested in exercising his voice than in giving anything real to the song.

I missed Blake this time, though I've liked his stuff along with, Sundance's, and Chris S's

re [In reply to] Can't Post

Wow - when did Phil forget how to sing. Actually, I wasn't impressed with him, even going back to his audition.

Chris was OK. I don't like his look, but he seems like a nice, sincere kid. Plus he can sing pretty well.

Blake is a born entertainer. I think he will end up being an MTV VJ or something when this is all done.

Brandon didn't do that great, but he's so likable.

Gimli, errrr I mean Sundance looked like a freaking psycho-serial-killer. WTH was he doing with that makeup and that faux-hawk???

I like Jared, but he didn't stand out this week at all.

Chris Sligh had the best performance, although it wasn't nearly as good as stuff he's done in the past.

Predictions:
Jared and Phil hit the road this week.

Chris R. [In reply to] Can't Post

reminds me so much of this kid who's in my husband's FD with him. He's a teacher and he also sings- in fact, he went to try out in NY, but didn't get past the first round. We always look at Chris R. and say, this is why they didn't need Jason!
I'll bet there were a lot of Chris R. types, but only 1 Chris S.!

You could be right about Phil. [In reply to] Can't Post

Of course, I think Sanjaya should go before Phil, but Phil was really forgettable last night. He's got a nice enough voice, and a pleasant enough personality, but he's not a standout in any department, and he does have trouble getting past the karaoke approach.

I agree with everyone else - should be Sanjaya and Brandon, probably will be Phil and Brandon.

I LOVE me some Lakisha [In reply to] Can't Post

She is so incredible! No doubt it will come down to her and Melinda. Simon said it best: she brings believability to her performances. Another thing struck me as I watched her -- you can trust her when she's singing. Some singers, if you know the song and it's a challenging song, you kind of cringe when they approach a tough note or a tricky part of the song. Not so with Lakisha. She can absolutely be trusted to nail every song, she's that darn good! I LOVE HER!

This week's losers [In reply to] Can't Post

Going home for the gals this week:
Haley and BFF

There's an outside chance BFF somehow avoids the cut, in which case the other loser would be Sabrina. I hope not though.
