EW.Com - Elijah Wood Among Top 30 Under 30 Can't Post

Elijah WoodEntertainment Weekly has posted a listing of the top thirty actors/actresses under the age of 30. And guess what? Elijah Wood makes an appearance.

"The Lord of the Rings franchise made Wood a megastar, but the actor has used his box office power for good instead of evil in off-beat movies like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) and Everything Is Illuminated (2005)."

See the full list over at EW.com. Thanks to Jane S for the heads up! [EW.com]

EW didn't do their homework. [In reply to] Can't Post

The article implies that the only thing Elijah has worked on recently is that animated film '9'. He's also done 'Day Zero' (which was just released on dvd), and 'The Oxford Murders', which comes out sometime this spring.

Oxford Murders [In reply to] Can't Post

is taking FOREVER to be released. It's still only slated for overseas audiences so far *grumble*

And what about Happy Feet, Bobby, and Spyro (voice for 2 games), and I Love Paris (je t'aime), and Sin CIty... not to mention starting a record label? Most not so recent, but around the same era as ESSM and EII. I am, however, twittered he's made the list :D

Entertainment Weekly Not So Up To Date on Elijah [In reply to] Can't Post

Entertainment Weekly should look in their own back issues for all the other work Elijah has done and is doing. Crazy Really!

Ha! [In reply to] Can't Post

Another fandom has been complaining for a while now about the sorry, sloppy state of "journalism" at Entertainment Weekly. =)
And other publications *sigh*...

Elijah's amazing and i'm glad he's on the list but.. [In reply to] Can't Post

I wish he went to work on more mainstream big title movies. :P Day Zero was only in select theaters and went for only one weekend for some reason. :p I just got it on DVD and Amazon said that it was going to ship tomorrow.
I wish he did more movies....
is it true that he's into music and the music record industry now?

And the bards and the minstrels should give them new names: Bronwe athan Harthad and Harthad Uluithiad , Endurance beyond Hope and Hope Unquenchable.." ~Gandalf, The End of the Third Age , from The History of Middle Earth series

Simian Records [In reply to] Can't Post

is the name of his Record Label (Company). He has 2 groups signed on so far [Apples in Stereo and Heloise & the Savoir Faire] since he formed the company in 2005. He's been referred to as a human encyclopedia of music :)

I'd love to see him in a romantic comedy.

not surprised! [In reply to] Can't Post

Elijah Wood is an amazing actor! His character portrayal of Frodo is one of the best in all of film history. And for non LotR, his characters progression and objectives in Green Street Hooligans is amazing.

Theres some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and its worth fighting for.

Except that neither of those groups count. [In reply to] Can't Post

Eliljah is the coolest, and I am in awe of his encyclopedic knowledge of music, and wish him success in his music industry endeavors, BUT . . .

I haven't seen any evidence that he's actually DONE anything to speak of with regard to his label. "Apples in Stereo" was already a signed and recognized band, so it's not like he discovered them. And the other band has his girlfriend or his girlfriend's friend or something (sorry, I forget the details) in it, so that's not a real signing either. And despite quite a bit of internet surfing, I haven't seen anything indicating what he's actually DONE for either band or "his" label. Does he even know anything about the music industry?

The reason I'm kind of angry about this is because with his incredible music knowledge and enthusiasm and coolness, I really had high hopes for his label, and I'm disappointed that for whatever reason (just lack of time, maybe?) nothing's really happening with it. I hope one day he can do more, but for now it looks like he's just lending his name to it.

/rant

>I'd love to see him in a romantic comedy.<
Me too. Why are all my favorite actors always in these violent movies I can't see?

OK, better stop here before I start ranting about that . . .

From interviews [In reply to] Can't Post

he's had, I get the impression he's not out to "rock" the world, but to give groups/bands an avenue that isn't mainstream. He says he listens to boxes of demo recordings from newbies. I think your mentioning that time may be a factor is valid. He's busy with his "other" job, and he's been doing the premier trot for Oxford Murders overseas. I imagine he plans to take his time; and finding, contracting, and getting a group into a recording studio must be time consuming.

Yeah... a romantic comedy... sans fins.
