Looks like Bard has acquired a nice new blue coat to replace his old one (perhaps it burned in dragon-fire?). I wonder what he and Gandalf are doing...there seems to be something distracting them from the orcs appearing behind them..

This must be Gandalf and Bard at the Battle of Five Armies. I notice that Gandalf does not yet display the injury that Tolkien mentioned in The Hobbit. It must be sustained at Erebor rather than at Dol Guldur.

Can't believe I missed that. Good eyes, Bomby!! Of course his staff explodes at the end of DoS, so he needs a new one. Maybe Radagast just gives it to him, don't be so pessimistic You're probably right, though.

I mean in terms of just looking like the character from the book. And this shot seems to be very in-keeping with the book so it's great all-round

Something I'm noticing more in this set of films is wardrobe changes. I'm really liking that. Obviously, there were characters (such as Arwen) who changed in LOTR, but there seems to be a lot more of it happening in this trilogy, and I think it's awesome. I wonder when Bard acquires this new coat. We've already seen (in the very first BOFA still released long ago (almost two years?)) Bard in the same outfit he wore in DOS at a camp talking with Legolas. So I'm assuming this is after that.

And I have to say, that picture looks like it could have come right out of the Return of the King. No visual effects, excellent color grading. What more can one want?

Well, I believe that this essentially puts the Radagast-may-or-may-not-die notion to rest: Link

If anyone else played Lego The Hobbit, you'd know Bard is wearing a blue coat, which always struck me as odd since his coat in DOS was s tattered brownish color. I guess they looked ahead and just made the Bard character with his new blue coat/armor. Pretty neat, I'd say. But that picture alone is all kinds of awesome!!

It would be a shame to not see that at all. I really enjoyed the more serious side of Radagast in DOS, and I hope to see that continued much more in BOFA.

The little ends that poke out at the top are too short as opposed to Radagast's.

Radagast still has a roll to play in the Fellowship of the Ring, right? Oh, dear... the books and the movies are drastically different. I hope that what we see there is simply a loaner staff.

Isn't he wearing that blue coat in one of the French DoS posters as well? The one where he's holding a sword? EDIT: He's wearing it in the photo where he's standing with his kids gazing out at the burning Laketown as well. So if he's wearing it right after the dragon attacks, then when does the scene with Legolas take place?

Something I'm noticing more in this set of films is wardrobe changes. I'm really liking that. The changes in wardrobe have been distracting in a good way. I'm really digging Bard's look. It was always safe to assume that Lake-Town's newly and rightly appointed leader would be sporting a brand new outfit during the battle. Of course, everybody except Gandalf the Grey is expected to suit up. Mithrandir does not need any extra attire and he prefers his old wooly robe over handsome coats or flashy armour.

It doesn't have to mean that Raddy dies, he might just give it to Gandalf since Gandalf's staff was destroyed in DoS.
