movie viewing mini-moot...
|
Can't Post
|
|
Well, this year I become a grown up - in hobbit terms, that is... (I'm not claiming 21 again!!) So I decided I should celebrate in some kind of way which linked to ME... I've booked a (VERY small!) private cinema space for Sunday March 2nd (which is not actually my birthday but the closest day I could get), and I'm going to watch Fellowship of the Ring (theatrical edition probably). Hurrah! The theatre holds 17 people (I did say it was small - nice, cosy, hobbit sized cinema...). It is the Coolidge Theatre in Brookline, Boston, and I have it booked 11am to 3pm. L.Ron, deej and CAhobbit will all be joining me for the viewing! So the question is, any other 'sibs in the Boston area able to join us? (Boston Mass that is - not Boston UK!) I could fit in another ten folks or so, and I would love to have a gang of 'sibs together for a mini-moot and a party viewing! I know there aren't many 'sibs close to Boston, but anyone who wanted to make the journey, it would be wonderful to see you! CAhobbit and deej will be staying with me for the weekend, and we'll be going out on Saturday night (and possibly getting tattoos together, too!). So if you fancy a weekend in Boston for a mini-moot, please do come along! If for some bizarre reason I end up with more than 17 people I will have to go on first come, first served basis - but hey, that's highly unlikely! Let me know any questions you may have - and I hope this will become a Sunday afternoon to remember!

What a great way to celebrate your birthday, gd! I can't come, but I'll be with you in spirit. How many spirits do you have room for?

Hope you have a great time, and happy early birthday. a.s. (you can always do what I do and claim 21 for the X time. On my next birthday, for instance, I'll be 21 for the 33rd time!)
"an seileachan" "And we must all bring Provisions." "Bring what ?" "Things to eat." "Oh!" said Pooh happily. "I thought you said Provisions. I'll go and tell them." And he stumped off.

I'll have to check in with Mr. Losse, (away today with our son for Boy Scouts), but there's nothing on the calendar that I can see. I don't think I would do an overnight, but a day trip would be a ton of fun! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this works out. Btw, when is your actual birthday?

With 11am-3pm as the proposed cinema time, hopefully a day trip would work out for you! I'll keep my fingers crossed! My birthday is actually the Monday before, Feb 25th; but the weekend of the 23rd/24th I have auditions and performances, plus I will be glued to the Oscars (assuming they happen, writers' strike allowing) on the 24th! So I went for the following weekend. Hope you can make it!

OK, so far it's me, L.Ron, deej, CAhobbit and hopefully Losse. An excellent start for a mini-moot. Anyone else able to join us? Sil? Dernwyn? Bueller...?

That's going to be a busy weekend for me, with both church goings-on and helping some elderly friends move from one rental to another. I would sooo love to see the movie in a theater like that! And get together with you all again - it's been too long...

I actually think the day will work! It's a minor miracle, but I don't think we have anything but church and my choir director will understand. I have to admit that I am a total wimp and my fear of driving around Boston is no small thing. I'm just going to have to muster the courage because I would never forgive myself for missing an opportunity like this because I'm a wuss!

I will be at the Coolidge Theatre from about 10.45 or so, so feel free to arrive any time after that! I will provide snacks! If driving in Boston really freaks you out, can you drive to a T station, leave the car and come in on public transport? I don't have a car or I'd offer to pick you up somewhere. Anyway I am very excited that you will be joining us! Hurrah!

drive up to Springfield and take a train in! It's really the most convenient way, and probably costs less than driving in.

I'm so excited that you're going to be there! I get to meet another sib - whoo-hoo! This will be great fun. I haven't seen any of the trilogy on the big screen since I went to NYC in February of 2006 and I am more than ready for that, too. See you there!

So far I know that those present will be: Me (obviously...) L.Ron deej CAhobbit Lossefalme Sil and dernwyn, I'm sad you folks can't make it but quite understand - it's a heck of a journey! We'll manage to meet soon, I'm sure. Losse, are you bringing anyone with you? You're of course most welcome with or without! But I'm just checking for numbers. Anyone else joining us? I will be providing some food and drink so I just want to be sure I know who will be there. All welcome! I will be at the Coolidge Theatre from about 10.45am and we will start the movie soon after 11 - once everyone is there! There will be food and drink (and of course the cinema will have popcorn and other drinks if anyone wants such things!) We'll be kicked out at 3pm and can go somewhere else from there or folks who need to can head home. Looking forward to it!

Crazy week. Sorry . Hmmm. The only person I could potentially bring would be my 10 yr old son. No pressure, though, please! I only mention it because you might need the bodies. I wasn't planning on bringing him at all because this doesn't look like a "kid" thing and I am not one of those parents who believes that kids belong everywhere. On the fun side, I haven't let him see the movies yet so it would be new to him. I am sooooo excited to moot! This is going to be so great. My choir director is jealous!
