I had no idea. I hate studios making people double dip with early digital releases but I'm just going to fall right into their trap like I did with AUJ EE

You mean Netflix streaming or by mail?

If you mean by streaming only god knows how long, but for mailers I'd think about from release day to 4 weeks after release, I think some studios have that 4 week policy against Netflix and redbox to push early sales but again not sure if WB is part of that, I think they were a least at one point though

Thankfully I'm in the midst of Game of Thrones thrall, between rewatching the Season 3 Blu-rays, listening to commentaries, watching Season 4 trailers, etc. So I won't be tempted into the instant gratification of the DoS digital release. That said, I am very eager to get my hands on that Blu-ray. Some new clips on YouTube have reminded me of how much I loved DoS.
"The danger with any movie that does as well as this one does is that the amount of money it's making and the number of awards that it's got becomes almost more important than the movie itself in people's minds. I look at that as, in a sense, being very much like the Ring, and its effect on people. You know, you can kind of forget what we were doing, if you get too wrapped up in that." - Viggo Mortensen

It's an opportunity, nothing else. The DVD/BR-Release is still the same date...

It's a way to EVEN FURTHER get fans to double (triple? Possibly quadruple with the EE?) dip. Not only that, but it completely goes against the reason behind release dates in the first place. It's just simply unfortunate for anyone who wants the Blu-ray, and I am not a fan of these release games they play. I understand that we don't have to buy versions we don't want just because they are available, but not releasing even the same theatrical versions at the same time is just baiting fans. Now, if you were planning on getting the digital version all along, then you lucked out, lol.

I understand Blu-Ray/DVD customers will have to wait and "deal with it" if they don't want to pay for it twice. I know I won't be buying it twice - I CAN and WILL wait a week to buy it, but that's not the point. It's still a shady business practice.

s/o edited it anyways... But it's not shady business practice – it's business practice. Why not releasing it one week before it hits theaters?
