Thanks for posting all those clips - looking forward to seeing new ones on tv! I've already pre-ordered the TE Special Collector's edition with the Guards of Erebor - can't wait to watch it at home!
“As such, you will address His Majesty as His Majesty, the Lord of Silver Fountains, the King of Carven Stone, the King Beneath the Mountain, the Lion of Erebor, the High King of the Dwarves, the True Treasure of Erebor, the Face that Launched 10,000 Sighs, or Thorin the Majestic..." http://newboards.theonering.net/forum/gforum/perl/gforum.cgi?post=719226;sb=post_time;so=DESC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed

The gift set doesn't seem to be available in the UK This might be the first time I just wait for the Extended Edition, mostly because I know it will be on Netflix shortly after release.

On one hand I'd love to get the theatrical DVD but on the other hand it would be financially wiser to wait for the EE. So I guess I'll be waiting. Then again, maybe I can convince someone else to get me the theatrical for my birthday...
"So fare thee well, my own true love I'll think of you night and day A place in my mind, you will surely find Although I am so far away And when I'm alone, far away from home I'll think of the good times once more Until I can make it back someday here To Paddy's green shamrock shore" --The High Kings

though I may have seen some of these already. Since I can never afford the gift sets, I just pre-ordered the 3D Blu-ray/DVD combo pack from Future Shop, even though I don't technically have a Blu-ray player (or a 3D television, for that matter) yet. I've only seen DoS in 3D, so it makes more sense to get this version, and I couldn't resist having Thorin on the cover. I hope I'll be able to upgrade by the time the extended edition comes out, since then I can get the 3D extended edition. I've seen most of the bonus features anyway (mostly the production diaries as well as the music video for I See Fire), so this isn't much of an issue. I'll see the rest of them eventually, since if it has Thorin on the cover, I'll probably end up keeping both versions (unlike last year with AUJ).
Far over the Misty Mountains cold To dungeons deep and caverns old We must away, ere break of day To find our long-forgotten gold.

Well I expect I will get it, just because I don't think I can wait for the EE - however, it does seem foolish to buy something knowing I'll never watch it again after the EE comes out. I haven't decided if I'm getting the DVD or if I'll just get a download, probably not much difference in price so it will depend on the special features included. Yeah, I'm a big enough fangeek to watch all those special features - especially on those days when I'm home from work with a cold and regular TV sucks.

I'm crazy for the dwarves and the dwarf aesthetic and the whole culture these movies developed, and of course happily Thorin is on the cover. Loved DOS so no way was I going to hold out for the EE, and anyway I end up sharing the movie w. friends and family and it's always nice to have a copy of some kind, in case you are really in the mood to see a film and all of a sudden you have a damaged disc, which happened to me. Pretty annoying, like losing entire chapters from a book. Just hope the pricey bookends are as good in real life as they look in the pictures.
