'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' wins Annie Award Can't Post

The-Hobbit-GollumThat mischievous little sneaker known as Gollum (or Smeagol, depending on his mood) has another notch in his belt. Even 10+ years after making a splash in Hollywood, he just can't stop picking up awards.

Yesterday, the 41st Annual Annie Awards were held. The Annies celebrate achievement in film and television animation. The award for 'Character Animation in a Live Action Film' was given to Jeff Capogreco, Jedrzej Wojtowicz, Kevin Estey, Alessandro Bonora, Gino Acevedo for their work on Gollum in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Congratulations to the recipients, and all those who have worked to bring Gollum to life! It would be a massive understatement to say that we have greatly appreciated all your dedication and hard work.

Thanks to Will Smith (no, not that one) for telling us about this!

Annie Awards [In reply to] Can't Post

Although I am not a fan of Gollum, I think the team who created this creature were brilliant and visionary. Not forgetting Andy Serkis who gave the animated creature personality and being and is imprinted on film for future generations.

So well done to the team for this award. Cool
