Great interview with Richard Armitage from BadTaste.it Can't Post

Richard gives the best interviews. Here he talks about Thorin's feelings entering Erebor ("a spiritual moving moment"), the cut firefly scene and much more.

Thank you [In reply to] Can't Post

Well, I want to see the firefly scene and I don't care it works in the film or not, LOL. RA does give wonderful interviews (tho I have seen some bad INTERVIEWERS, RA is always polite but the look on MF's face at times cracks me up). Nice to see RA's eyes light up at the idea of going back to NZ - yeah, and I think we'd all rather have the ACTOR and not the digital stuff. (I agree w. RA from an earlier interview even using scale doubles, you can kind of tell, the bodies of the real actor just are held and move differently.)

I just saw that too [In reply to] Can't Post

Yes, another great interview. Here's what I hope re the firefly scene: when Bilbo and Thorin are in Erebor at the beginning of TABA, they show a shot of the ceiling of Erebor while Thorin speaks the lines originally done in Rivendell. That way, we still get the story, even if it's not where it was originally filmed. And it still fits since he's talking about where he was born, now that they're back there. Smile

Ohh [In reply to] Can't Post

Damn it! Curse all who cut these beatiful scenes both for Hobbit and Lotr. I need an ultimate uncut edition. Just because there will be ultimate editions, I think we will see a short EE of DOS since they should leave some scenes for ultimate hardcore uncut edition.

The mentioned deleted scene ... [In reply to] Can't Post

Was originally a conversation between Thorin and Bilbo on the steps of Rivendell, before they both overhear Elrond and Gandalf talking. It really does sound like a moving conversation. Many complained of few "character moments" in AUJ, and this sounds perfect.

Information like this really makes me wish that there will be an eventual Ultimate Extended Edition of the films.

Omitted [In reply to] Can't Post

When the scene first was mentioned I thought maybe it was to early in the relationship for Thorin to have opened up to Bilbo about such a personal life experience and they realized it after shooting it.

Yeah I agree with their decision to cut that scene [In reply to] Can't Post

Thorin just doesn't seem like the 'sharing' kind of guy (as much as we'd all like to share with him! Wink)

I'd like to call a vote LOL [In reply to] Can't Post

Don't know how the sequence was filmed, but I could see Thorin in a pensive moment - especially if he had a few drinks down - being unexpectedly open to an insignificant hobbit.

I vote I'd rather see that scene in an EE version than the Goblin King song (tho I liked the dwarf bits)
