Costume Designers Guild nominates 'The Desolation of Smaug'

Among other awards groups announcing their nominations today, the Costume Designers Guild also released their nods. Ann Maskrey, Richard Taylor, and Bob Buck were nominated for their work on The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, along with the costume designers of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Oz the Great and Powerful. Representing the fantasy genre on the television side of things, Game of Thrones landed a nomination in the "Outstanding Period/Fantasy Television Series" category. The amazing costumes adorned by the men and women of Westeros (as well as those across the Narrow Sea) are in competition against Boardwalk Empire, The Borgias, Downton Abbey, & Mad Men. Any organisation(big or small) that hands out awards in the entertainment industry cannot fail to recognise the contribution that Sir Peter Jackson and his team have made to the film world. My congratulations to Ann Maskrey, Sir Richard Taylor and Bob Buck. I agree that it is a well deserved nomination.
