New Line & 'The Hobbit' Move to the WB? 'Not True' Can't Post

Contrary to previous reports on IMDB there is "no truth" to the rumor that New Line Cinema's Bob Shaye & Michael Lynne were being sacked, and all projects, including The Hobbit were moving completely over to the Warner Bros. camps. A New Line spokesperson stated via email to us today that the story was false, and they are seeking a correction on IMDB.

Good news - thank you! [In reply to] Can't Post

Admittedly, now I am relieved. As much as I disapproved of New Line's behaviour over the last year, I'd rather see them making the 'Hobbit' than Warner.

I do not suffer from LotR obsession - I enjoy every minute of it.

But how did IMDB get it in the first place? [In reply to] Can't Post

Most rumors don't go that far. This one sure seemed legit.

Half Half? [In reply to] Can't Post

The folding of New Line into Warner Bros seemed a little broad ...
but maybe there is some re-structuring ahead - or did Bob Shaye save his fall from grace with the Hobbit to cushion him ...

There's just been too many false or misleading reports and denials coming out of over the time which go back to New Line ...

The Shire was never the same after
Barbra Cartland moved into Bagshot Row.

Taken by the Dark Director, tempted to hold moots & dress up like Hobbits, Elves, Dwarves and Wizards ... A ruined & terrible form of life, not to mentions bad grades ... and now perfected at TORN ...

Thanks for this, but Sunflower and Elven make good points. [In reply to] Can't Post

How did this go so far? I know IMDb isn't to be trusted too far as they get many things wrong, but isn't Bob Shaye due to retire?
We all know Shaye is a scrappy, savvy guy, but still, Time Warner owns half the world, don't they?
Well, thanks for writing to them and posting this.
Cheers,
hob
