Dos finally in Australia. My little review

It was great! i liked everything about it except for a few little things. 1. The dwarves vs smaug sequence. This was good, but i just didn't like how far fetched some of the stunts were. Defied physics by far! 2. Bolgs blind eye. I actually really like bolgs new design, though i absolutely hate his blind eye! It makes him seem older, and weaker than he actually is. 3. Dol Guldur story lacking. I seriously was expecting more. I would have liked to see Azog marching in front of the army. 4. Kingsfoil being fed to a pig! Lol something so valuable and useful, being fed to a pig!? seems a bit silly to me. 5. The Movie STOPPED During thorin and thranduils debate!! The stupid cinema i went to, had an issue with the projector that was screening the film, and it cut out! We had to wait half an hour before they continued screening! Man i was Fuming! Some very vulgar words, worse than black speech itself, came out of my mouth in that time 6. The end! Like why did it have to end? now i have to wait a whole year for taba!
"And do you really think, Thorin Oakenshield, that Bolg will have the slightest symphony for you? After he watched you hack his fathers hand off, so ruthlessly in Moria. Azogs defeat has brought nothing to you, only refuelled hate of his kin, upon yours"

...there was pause for about 10 seconds also at that point (first session) , and then it came back from 2D to 3D. I think projectionists are new to HFR gadgetry.

happened in the middle of the healing scene. It was very quiet, and all of a sudden there was the sound of loud, heavy breathing. It sounded just a little odd as part of the soundtrack. A man nearby had fallen asleep, and he was pretty noisy for the rest of the movie.

.... in response to # 4 on your list, you may have missed it, but in lake town ,kingsfoil isnt thought of as valuable. Its refered to, in the movie, as if it was just another weed.

I saw it today here in Oz. rather than go into a review beyond saying I agree with the positive reviews, only to add they moved through the Mirkwood too quickly (and without much depth) get to the main plot, whilst being 'true' to the book. I think movie cinemas like a 3 hour slot with 15 minutes of adds and trailers, so directors have to cut to that (2.40) plus a 5-10min changeover. The thing I would like to think about is forshadowing one of my favorite film devices as it leads to speculation.Gimli was forshadowed, so I think another Gimli forshadowing in TABA. Bard's son will definately have a role (he knows where the arrrow is). Raddies staff and how it gets handed over: i) Raddie "Gandalf take my staff'; or ii) Gandalf "Raddie give me your staff" or iii) Galadriel "Raddie give Gandalf your staff". Any thoughts on top of elven healing and ring motifs. By the way coming from a farm I would not knock pig food (or animal food in general). There are also sorts of common food which has healing properties (papaya for example is pig food in some places and is a great antibiotic for wounds not unlike Athelas).

During the prologue. They restarted it and it was fine after that but it was really annoying.

The weed wasn't thought to have such healing properties by the vast majority of men. In the LOatR chapter Houses of Healing it really details how little they thought of it and they used it mainly for its fragrance. So the fact lake town folk thought little of it isn't really strange.

Seeing as the Thorin/Thranduil scene was one I looked forward to for months, and is probably my #1 favorite scene. But glad the long wait for you ended.

the sound in the theater was off (muted and hissing); it conked out halfway through and they had to repeat the scenes with Thrandy/Throrin and Taurili in the dungeon, thought the sound remained crappy throughout. I went to it a second time the other day just to get the several lines which had not been audible during the first screening. I thought the first theater I'd attended had something wrong with their sound system, but perhaps Warners is shipping/sending faulty copies of the movie?

snuck over and hollered "BOO!" in his ear. Would have served him right. When I was in grad school, there was one grad student who was just plain rude and unpleasant. He once fell asleep during a seminar given by a visiting professor -- and snored loudly through the whole thing. No one bothered waking him up; he was properly disgraced, and he deserved it!
