I saw it. It is really good! *No spoilers* Can't Post

Just got home from the midnight premiere in Copenhagen! What an amazing joy right.

Maybe not competely true to the book but some times it actually felt like an improvement.

There were so few things that I didn't like in this movie, and most of the shortcommings, will be covered in the EE.

From a guy who was a bit dissappointed by AUJ I only have this left to say: the wait was worth it.

So many changes [In reply to] Can't Post

Might be I'll like the next time I'll see it (which will be in 2D) but I was struck by how changed it was from the book, especially in the second act (and the first act was rushed). Could go into details of what I didn't like, but I don't know if this is the place for it?

Orc warts and all.

Did I mention I'm green with envy for all of you that will have seen it tonight! Cool

So [In reply to] Can't Post

Do you think it is up to par with the LOTR movies? Better?

This is spoiler free, so do it in another thread. [In reply to] Can't Post

I saw it in HFR 3D. It was very much the same experience as watching AUJ that format, maybe even better.

I think Both Azog and Bolg looked good. Not perfect but good.

Hard to say [In reply to] Can't Post

One has to accept, that this is not LoTR. If you can do that, then you will be very pleased with this movie. Last year I left the theater with a weird feeling. This year I was exicted, pumped and with a big smile on my face.

Best movie for me this year. SO much Tolkien is scattered all over this PJ adaption, but it still very much feels like the Hobbit (+ other stuff). The prologue is great. And Smaug.. WOW!

I will try to be spoiler free and still answer this! ;) [In reply to] Can't Post

Prologue: great

Beorn: good

Mirkwood: decent (felt rushed, hopes is for the EE/real version will improve it)

Spiders: clever and very nice

Tauriel: not too bad of a character. Some good scenes and some.. not so good.

Legolas: There was a big cheer in the audience when he appeared Wink I really felt like he belonged in this movie. He's a cool guy as always. ***Small spoiler*** There will be surfing ;)

Bard: MUCH better than the book. Really great character.

Laketown: great

Erebor: Amazing ( I love dwarfs!!!)

Smaug: perfect!

Overall impression: 9/10 ( I am so hypped at the moment!)

Editing what I wrote... [In reply to] Can't Post

Seeing now as the OP wants it to be spoilerfree. I will make a new thread with my thoughts instead.

I agree with the thread starter [In reply to] Can't Post

I just saw it and loved it too. Most of the changes added something valuable and could be justified in my opinion. I even liked the stuff I was very concerned about going in (barrel chase, sonic the skin-changer, forges etc).

No such thing as spoiler-free on this board any longer [In reply to] Can't Post

There's no way humanly possible to hold back the flood gates from here on out. Anyone truly concerned about spoilers should have been sticking to the other forums by now. So, there's no longer any need to start separate review threads for spoilers/non.

Agree on Bard [In reply to] Can't Post

I remember way back when I saw the first pic of him on set I though "Ugh, no", but he was actually one of my favourite characters in the movie. Luke Evans was perfect and I couldn't help thinking that if the LOTR movies were being made today instea of 10+ years ago, he'd be a fine Aragorn.
