You've gotta love the more extreme reaction to Legolas and Tauriel's involvement in DoS. Once the movie has come out, people will be wondering what they were worried about. Of this I am sure.

But I won't complain some weird photoshop in this one too though. As usual.

So these are two completely new characters we didn't even know about? I can't wait. The make-up and/or Photoshopping are completely overdone, especially on the woman.

Touche on the worst Photoshopping

Just got my copy of Empire, and sorry to say but the award for the worst Photoshopping of the month goes to their pic of Thorin Oakenshield:
Apparently the digital artist who drew in Orcrist doesn't know that the blade of a sword is aligned with the pommel, not off at a 20 degree angle.
Don't mess with my favorite female elf.

As a subscriber to EMPIRE, I have to admit that is quite a common problem.

The photoshopping in the magazine is neither as consistent nor as adventurous as it should be.
I don't have much to say.

The murky, filthy greens and the mist. Love it! Tonally, the trailers and posters have completely differentiated DOS from AUJ. AUJ never tried to act like anything it wasn't in the marketing. Hell they even put the Great Goblin's (awful) fall in the trailer! Let's hope the film itself lives up to its promotional material!

Oh, Gods of Cyberspace (and nice European fans) please post a high-res version of the French Thorin poster - seeing as he is a pivotal character and all. (Or at least he was supposed to be. As well as a hobbit, last I knew. And a rather interesting company of dwarves. And an elf named Thranduil - at this point any new poster with him would be jaw-dropping, since peculiarly this marketing seems to be directed toward the Disney action toy market I guess.)

Thorin looks fine to me in this

Thorin Oakenshield's face is absolutely fine in this – I couldn't care less about the sword. It doesn't look 'wrong' to me since I know nothing about how swords should be held (and nor will most people looking at this picture). However, the majority of images of T & L feature over-done, clashing facial make-up and/or photoshopping.

Since the dragon tooth handle curves - why would you Photoshop in a sword anyway - looks like just a photo of Thorin holding the sword (finally ordered the UC Orcrist replica, I'll be able to test this if I remember to - probably not tho, by then I'll be too excited re DOS....)

"You've gotta love the more extreme reaction to Legolas and Tauriel's involvement in DoS. Once the movie has come out, people will be wondering what they were worried about. Of this I am sure." Hope so - every time I get settled down and happy re DOS seems some image comes out stirring the pot, and there's Boyens saying she's "sure Tauriel will be a favorite character". (At least Boyens has admitted to "being scared".) PJ & co. were all for Radagast's portrayal and there's still pro/con arguments going on, but I wouldn't say he's a "favorite", overall, IMO. Point being the audience decides what it thinks, no matter how much PR you do or what the filmmakers love.
