The orc she is interrogating is probably the most realistically convincing orc I've ever seen. His face looks too real to be cgi but too perfectly convincing to be makeup. You decide.

I have no doubt in Evageline Lily's talent anymore. Most realistic orc in PJ's ME for me and that conversation is good too.

That's some good cgi! It's hard to tell what is real and what's cgi these days!

The orc is obviously not cgi but an actor in prosthetics.

The same orc is in the last trailer. SPOILER BELLOW: Dunno about the way Thranduil beheads the orcs ("look how cool i am!!!!") but other than that, decent clip.

"Look how this guy can quickly and efficiently eliminate perceived threats to his kingdom." He gets the job done and moves on. I love the sudden transition between Thranduil making the move with his blade and the decapitated head appearing in Legolas' hands. Such a neat shot. As for the orc, it might be CGI-enhanced prosthetic make-up, considering PJ's comments about the orcs in the second and third films.

Yes the orc is there in real life and was fitted with make up and so on... But there is abit of cgi to make him look more gruesome and so on..

But it just strikes me as showing off. Eh, it's just a minor complain. I might change my mind when i see more of the movie and this character in particular.

This is prime evidence of how combining conventional effects with CGI is the most effective route.

This orc looks way cooler, and more threatening than Azog. Even if CGI isn't involved in the shot, it speaks even more for prosthetics. Tauriels delivery of that line is pretty good as well. Better than what we saw in the previous sneak peak earlier in the year.

It definetly looks way more effective and more realistic. Pure cgi does have that bit of fakeness to it. But with combining real life make up, (with cgi to back it up) it is the best route, especially when referencing the new scene with that orc

I didn't like her delivery at all. It just seemed kind of forced and trite. I'm really not a Tauriel-hater, but I wish that they'd found something better for her to say. Also, maybe it was just the way that it appeared, but what was up with that Orc's glowing eyes? Cool to see Thrandy freak out when he said who his master serves though. This could get really interesting!

Love EL delivery. Knowing Tauriel's backstory this really comes across in her acting. If she is played and written like this all the way through she might indeed become a very good addition. Not sure about the Orc and his eyes though... I for one would say if prosthetics were used here than I am reminded of why I am not a big champion of their use.

That dialogue is truly awful, it's Azog and his "Die dwarf scum" all over again. It sounds like someone is using a fantasy film random phrase generator.

The fact that this orc has us guessing whether or not the shot is practical or CGI is a testament to the effects. That should be the aim. If you aren't sure what you're looking at, you're more inclined to believe it.

I love how her expressions and delivery hint at Tauriel's inner thought processes in her interactions with the orc. The line about death might not have worked with another actor, but EL speaks it with a certain eagerness and naivete (quite deliberately).

No matter how they accomplished it, the orc looks terrific. I'd say it was mostly prosthetic make-up with digital enhancements; if that's the case, it's pretty seamless.

He looks much better than most of the orcs/goblins in the hobbit IMO. Well he's not cgi because he is shown in the new production diary kneeling there, so thats no problem.. I don't think he looks fake like Azog does. I like his teeth and mouth.. it looks really gruesome and realistic. And on another note, when he says 'my master serves the one'. Is he referring to Sauron serving the ring ? Or is he referring to maybe Azog serving Sauron ?

I see that orc as being copletely prosthetics. they might have done something to his eyeballs and tounge, but the rest of it is make up. I do not see anything about that face that would have needed cg enhancing. In the behidn the scenes bits we have seen an actor in full makeup with none of those cgi balls/dots. He does look like a fantasticly convincing grounded orc, LOVE IT!

Thranduil seems to have an inkling of what he really meant. That's why it's totally reasonable for him to swiftly dispose of the orc. I understand the promise of word, but orcs are obviously merciless. I encourage Thranduil to continue being awesome in every way.

Azog serving Sauron. Obviously they call Azog "master". Look at AUJ. When we see Yazneg and Fimbul watching the Dwarves from a short distance he says something like "Tell our master we have found the Dwarves". So when an Orc of Azogs group is talking about his master he is referring to Azog. And yes... "the One" is obviously Sauron/The Necromancer which is the reason why Thranduil changed his mind. He even looks kind of scared... well who won't be? He is the first who learns that Sauron is indeed returned... Great strong scene. The music is great and the Orc looks amazing! Could this be Narzug?
