Longer Evangeline Lilly Interview from Monday

http://insidemovies.ew.com/...iel-is-batman-video/ Has been quoted in some reviews of the event, but some might not have heard it yet. What is funny, I didn't read the ending of LotR as well for quite a while. I read the book in a very short periode of time at some point in the winter of 2000/2001 (a year before FotR), but got so incredibly sad and could not part with that world that I kept off reading the last chapter for at least two weeks. But in those two weeks I discovered Tolkien's other writings, especially the Sil and the secondary literature surrounding the Atlas and the maps... and when there was more to discover I was able to finish LotR.

see what i think of Tauriel-- i like a lot of what we've seen so far, but am very wary of any romance mumbo-jumbo-- but i do like Evangeline Lilly, and thought she was very lively and funny and charming at the fan thing. Thanks for the link!

... that she does not hide her excitement even at the cost of sometimes seeming a bit "unprofessional". One simply believes her that she is a big fan of the source material and that she has thought of why and how this character could still work, for her as an actress, and how it might work for as many people as possible.

I would prefer to see interviews with others, such as Pace and Evans

Not to mention Richard Armitage. We have seen barely anything of them. T has been over-saturated throughout the year. It's time for that to stop and to let us hear about the characters that actually appear in the book, from the actors themselves.

This is an interview done by EW though...

... I wouldn't get offended by that, it simply depended on which magazine or channel was where. They also did interviews with RA and LP for example and I do not think it is the fault of some kind of embargo that they did not get a video... simply EW's decision. Plus, I have not heard her talk about her role THAT much.

However, at the 'event' the other night, the actors who I really wanted to hear speak barely said anything. About the most interesting one was Luke Evans, when he talked about how the longbow should be held correctly when drawn.

I was worried at first but she is winning me over. It was smart of the writers to add in a female elf in the woodland realm and the more I see of her, the less I mind that she seems to get alot of dialouge in the mirkwood-part of the movie.

RA and LE made the interviews for me

Very good fan question for RA and who knew it'd show up in that mind-blowing present PJ gave us. And I was so pleased LE finally explaining holding a bow that way (Thorin also is holding a shot differently than what I would have expected in some images I've seen, now I know to think about the length of the draw). Personally don't need to hear from EL anymore - not after the Tinkerbell reference (tho I give her props for honesty, but really, you've got Lee Pace in the "F" magazine talking about not wanting to mess up Keats - that just made me put my head down). Yes, EVERYONE got daily script changes - it's a MOVIE, not a quick-to-film, gotta make the schedule TV show. Script changes during a film are NOT unusual, and Boyens etc. are constantly writing, it's not a secret how PJ works. Besides, compared to Bilbo, Thorin, Thranduil, Gandalf, Radagast - is Tauriel really saying that much line by line? I doubt it, not when EL herself said she wasn't on set that much compared to time off set in NZ. She's too old to be playing/acting cute - or older looking. The best I've seen from her is showing Thranduil the bird in the vblog, which to me WAS funny. So hope some of the "embargoes" from Pace, Armitage, Freeman, Evans, Persbrandt are lifted close to movie release or right after - or at least more interviews from them pre-DVD release. Tho a lot depends on the interviewers as well, whether they are going to ask interesting questions.

There's no need to be so hostile. She just answered the questions honestly and tried to be engaging and funny. Saying stuff like "She's too old to be playing/acting cute" just comes off as being mean for the sake of being mean. Based on other interviews I've seen, she was just being herself. It's also pretty obvious that she's extremely excited for the film and is just simply being enthusiastic - nothing wrong with that. Plus, she hasn't worked on a ton of different projects, so she was likely not used to Peter's style of working. I'm certain that some of the other actors also had difficulty with the constantly changing script.

in Avandel's post, just an opinion as part of a discussion. It can be difficult to read a person's intent online so I suggest giving the benefit of the doubt where possible.
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. So, Tauriel DOES have a motive for becoming a fighter.

It might not be revealed on film, but there is an actual reason for Tauriel to take up arms and hunt Orcs (it was good enough for the sons of Elrond). I suspected as much and am gratified to see my speculations confirmed. So, now I wonder how old Tauriel was when she was orphanned and how she survived the attack that killed her parents.

True enough, and maybe I could have chosen better words/phrases in retrospect. Something for me to watch if posting when tired/frustrated/excited all at the same time - e.g.., like don't go grocery shopping when you are hungry!
