20 Minutes? Now, that would have totally been worth the money :)
" Why, O people of Noldor! Fëanor cried. Why should we longer serve the jealous Valar, who cannot keep us nor even their own realm secure from their enemy? And though he be now their foe, are not they and he of one kin? Vengence calls me hence, but even were it otherwise I would not dwell longer in the same land with the kin of my father's slayer and of the thief of treasure. Yet i am not the only valiant in this valiant people. And have ye not all lost your King? And what else have ye not lost, cooped here in a narrow land between the mountains and the sea? Here once was light, that the Valar begrudged to middle-earth, but now dark levels all. Shall we mourn here deedless forever, a shadow-folk, mist-haunting, dropping vain tears in the thankless sea? Or shall we return to our home? In cuivičnen sweet ran the waters under uncloaded stars, and wide lands lay about, where a free people might walk. There they lie still and await us who in out folly forsook them. Come away! Let the cowards keep this city!"

That would have been way too much. It is nice they did it for the cinema people, but this should not show up in any decent quality on the net.

We just saw 20 minutes of unseen footage from Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. The spiders, the dwarves, the elves, the orcs, the barrels, the escapes and the dragon. It's going to be a treat! “All good stories deserve embellishment." Praise is subjective. And so is criticism.

Wish I could have gotten to a theater to see the fan event but I'm not even sure if my local theaters even did it or not. That and I didn't want to pay to see something I could see for free online, even if the theater goers did get a sneak peak. Oh well.

it hits the net within a few hours. Even after PJ nicely asked folks not to spoil. I'm as up for sneak peeks as anyone, but it's question of degree, and think PJ has been pretty generous and can't ask for better than another fabulous trailer as well. So for once hope WB is watching the store as it were.

And he said WB will make an edited version that will be available later... Not sure of the 6 min, don't actually know where I got that from, lol! But I guess it will be a shorter version either way...

... they did a great event and I begin to see why there was such a calm marketing period. But now they should not ruin it by spoiling too much. What scenes did we see before release last year? I remember the White Council, Misty Mountains, the letter opener and the Goblin Chase.

I reckon the trailer that we have got IS the edited version. If Quickbeam was at one of the events they may have been unaware we saw a trailer, whilst they were seeing the full footage. I doubt anymore would be released after that 3 minutes Sneak Peak Trailer

I was so sorry that those watching on line didn’t get to see any of the sneak peek. Peter Jackson spoke earnestly and beseechingly urging people, not only to refrain from taping it and putting it on the internet, but also, he asked bloggers not to give too much away, because it would ruin it for others and might mean the end to this sort of event. So, I’m going to abide by that and just tell you what scenes were shown – there are no spoilers and I’m not giving anything away. We saw more of the Mirkwood scene than ever before – though some of what was shown was in the trailer. We saw a scene with Thanruil, Legolas and Tauriel that has never been seen – and man, if you’ve heard that Tauriel is a bad-ass, wait until you meet Thranduil. We saw more of the barrel scene than we’ve seen before, a look at the Dwarves’ trip to Lakedown with Bard and a longer bit than we’ve seen before of Bilbo discovering Smaug, or vice-versa. There was plenty of Thorin in what we saw. No skimping here. Source: http://armitageagonistes.wordpress.com/...bit-fan-event-recap/

I was wondering who and what the closing song would be. Neil Finn's Lonely mountain song is very good and catchy.

Was it a happy or "sad" song? :)

Split in half wanting to know, and not wanting to be TOO spoiled. So that's a nice summary but doesn't ruin anything - sounds as tho the tech-savvy PJ figured there'd be a leak at some point, but buffered any damage - just like a good director would know the industry, and human nature And good for the original blogger for having principles, too.
