Because I am a hobby historian, I will say I found it interesting to look back on how the LOTR soundtracks were promoted. Each soundtrack had a website that was accessed by inserting the CD into your computer. Sometimes, more content was available with the Limited Editions than with the Jewel Case editions. FOTR was promoted by using Enya to a large extent. By time TTT came around, the score itself was more of the focus. The Hobbit score is being promoted differently, respective to changes in technology. You can track the LOTR soundtrack online content (which I think is fun to revisit but then, I lived through it and it is nostalgic for me.. the blast to the past in terms of technology, etc. might not be so entertaining for those with no nostalgic connection) by visiting my site, clicking on "CD Editions", and then on "Online Content" for each movie's subsection.

It's nothing spectacular, nor ambitious. Like you I am a collector of this sort of stuff, and yes, the LOTR soundtracks are nostalgic for me too. I already feel a pang when I hear the Song of the Lonely Mountain now, because last November/December, when I first heard it, was a special time for me. Oh my... it's led me to start collecting information on these soundtracks too. Anyway, I do have the WaterTower Music content if anyone wants it. I intend adding it to my website as part of the whole "soundtrack stuff". I've just been mighty busy in real life and haven't had much time.

I was saying I have the AUJ soundtrack content. The technology is a little, um, weird. You need an Android or an iPhone (I have both!) and have to point it at the pages of the soundtrack booklet to access the stuff. I honestly would've preferred a good, old fashioned website, one for each soundtrack with some exclusive content accessible by popping in the CD, just like in the LOTR days.
