Is this the first rumblings of promotion? [In reply to] Can't Post

Tweets are coming in from IBC, and apparently they showed a theatrical-style trailer. Doesn't Hobbit Week start tomorrow? So could the trailer hit online by the 22nd?

I'm personally sticking to my theory that we'll see the trailer on the 29th. I think we'll get a poster on 22nd and maybe a vblog within the week.

Just have to wait and see, but I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing SOMETHING this week or next.

When they say [In reply to] Can't Post

"Debut of the current DOS trailer" do they mean the one that has already been released publicly or the new one that is supposed to be coming?

Good question, maybe we'll know shortly.

Was wondering the same thing [In reply to] Can't Post

I hope they mean new trailer that is "current" to them.

This is pathetic. [In reply to] Can't Post

I feel like us hardcore fans are the only ones anticipating this film at all. I demand a new trailer now

No. [In reply to] Can't Post

It is dangerous to overdo the marketing at this point - we have almost 1.5 years to go with Hobbit-connected marketing and people should not get fed up by Hobbits, Dragons, Wizards and Co.

I am sure we will soon have a new trailer, then HBO will start airing TH (correct me if I am wrong), more magazines will give previews etc.

A huge part of the AUJ audience will probably return... those who felt indifferent so far about whether to see it or not might have gotten interested again via trailer 1 or the DVD release, or later the TV release - it is now in the fall the right time to remind them that the second movie is close.

Then the time between world premiere and official release will be the right time to keep the buzz as high as possible (hopefully with better reviews leaking than last year).

If the numbers will be lower (which can easily happen)... [In reply to] Can't Post

... it will be hard to make a causual link between the marketing and the numbers.

Hinted [In reply to] Can't Post

I think its a better marketing ploy to only hint at what epic things might be coming. I think you will have much more suspense and then positive reaction if the truly epic and defining parts of the movie are experience at the theater. I think they will likely release another trailer but I hope all the major story points are hints and anything actually shown is the briefest of glimpses, not enough to reveal but enough to provoke the imagination.

My hopes would be one more 2 minute teaser just for flavor and a bunch of 30 second tv spots leading up to and during release. Also I hope we see another blog for the wrap of pick ups and one as they put the finishing touches, and finally one highlighting the red carpet. I think as in the past we are going to get a bevy on director and actor interviews and premiere press panels. I think this will be a good mix for marketing and fans.

yes but [In reply to] Can't Post

with the lukewarm reception to AUJ they need to sgow the casual fans something amazing or AT LEAST the opening numbers will drop usually a film like this the imdb board is active 24/7 but the dos imdb board barely gets more than 1 post a day thats not a good sign

Controversial ... [In reply to] Can't Post

I'd rather a vlog than a trailer. Everyone loves a vlog. Not everyone loves a new trailer (especially if it features Azogauriel). Angelic

I'm not sure demanding will get you anything quicker either. A Hobbit Day might though. Demand that it is Hobbit Day soon.
